Annabeth's p.o.v.

The next day I walk into my Greek Myth class, and sit down in my usual seat. My teacher steps up to the front of the class, pinning a loose strand of hair back into her bun.

"Good morning class! Today, I have some news. Mr. Chiron, one of the other Greek Mythology teachers at this school, has chosen to retire, good for him. He served this school well for many years. But, as a result of this our class will be receiving some of his students. Class, please welcome Michael Yew, Katie Gardener, Selina Beauragard, Connor Stoll, Jason Grace, and Percy Jackson."

My head snaps up, and I see Percy standing above me, grinning like a freaking idiot.

"Hey Wise Girl," he says, sitting in the seat beside me that Piper had vacated moments before to sit next to a certain six foot two blonde boy.

"Hey Percy," I say rolling my eyes at Piper, who's eye I had caught. She just stuck her tongue out at me and went back to talking to Jason.

"So, were you avoiding me yesterday?" Percy asks. Why does he have to pay attention?

"No! Well... Maybe."

"Why?"

I sigh. "I woke up Helen and my dad when I got home the other night, and I'm grounded."

"Oh," Percy says. "You mean, after McDonald's?"

"Yep," I say, popping the 'p'.

Percy reaches up and scratches the back of his neck. "Sorry."

"Dude, about what?" I ask. "I was the one who got all demandy-pants at you, telling you you had to come and meet me."

"I guess," Percy still looked a bit guilty. Smiling, I punch his arm, and mouth 'quiet' to him. Ms. Hodge claps her hands twice.

"Okay students, now that you're all settled, on with the lesson!"

"What are you all sulky about?" I ask Piper as she sits down at our table.

"It's Jason." Piper groans.

"What about him?"

"I asked him out," Piper mumbles into her hands. "And he has a girlfriend. A. Freaking. Girlfriend. I can't show my face here ever again."

"Well that's a bit extreme," Katie tells her.

"But it was mortifying!" She cries. "He was so nice about it! He said 'Piper, I'm flattered, really. But I have a girlfriend. Sorry.'"

"Did he tell you who it was?" Rachel asks.

Piper looks up at her miserably. "I think he said it was the senior with the red hair, Gwendolyn? I can't remember what he said her last name was."

"Well," Clarisse smirks. "We could always threaten her-"

"NO," Hazel shouts indignantly.

"Come on, guys," Reyna rolls her eyes. "Give Jason his space. He and Gwendolyn are high school sweethearts. And high school sweethearts hardly ever stay together for long periods of time."

"But it's possible!" Piper slams her forehead on the table, and winces, seeming to instantly regret it. "They could stay together all through the rest of high school, and then college, and then get married and have ten kids and I'll be stuck all alone with my cats!" Piper wails into the table.
