Sophie sighed as she loaded her pockets with weapons to possibly defend the elves-who-think-they're-humans.
Apparently there are fifteen "bird projects". She was only the first.
Sophie felt bad for the kids. She knew what they were going to have to go through- because she has experienced it first hand. But she didn't have time to think about that right now. Keefe found the address of the first elf.
She grabbed Keefe's hand and they both ran as Sophie teleported them both to the kid's house.
Correction. Home. It was an orphanage.
Turns out Sophie didn't have to worry about the whole 'parents' thing.
Maybe... they could adopt the elf.
Or find their parents...But Sophie's train of thought was broken off by Keefe."Sophie, come on. Time is ticking!" Keefe made little clicking noises that sounded like the tick of a clock.
Keefe pulled out a card with the kid's information from the orphanage.
EMI IGNIS
AGE: 12
GENDER: FEMALE
"So now we know who we're looking for. Let's go in, shall we?" Keefe smirked at Sophie. Sophie sighed. "Yeah, let's."
🌌🌌🌌
As soon as Sophie and Keefe walked in, an old lady with a kind smile greeted them. "How may I help you?" she asked.
Sophie smiled back at her. "My mom is coming soon, but she's looking to adopt a little girl." Sophie looked at Keefe. "So..." she began.
"Follow me," the lady said, motioning for the two to follow her. They walked into a large room with all sorts of kids sitting and playing around. There were shelves of books and Chromebooks and iPads.
"Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mrs. Linde, Headmaster of this lovely academy."
"So nice to meet you! I'm Sophie, and this is..." Crap. 'Keefe' was an Elvin name. It's a weird name! In a panic, Sophie glanced at Keefe's Batman shirt- which gave her an idea. "This is Bruce." Bruce Wayne, Sophie thought in her head.
Keefe raised an eyebrow at her before nodding. "Yes, I am Bruce. Nice to meet you, madam." He took a bow.
"Well aren't you charming!" Mrs. Linde smiled. "Let me introduce you to five special girls who are in need of a home. And, Sophie, is it, dear, let me know when your mother arrives."
🌌🌌🌌
Edaline, led by another employee, entered the room. "Hey, mom," Sophie smiled at her adoptive mother.
"Hello, Sophie," she nodded at her daughter.
Keefe wasn't listening though. As always. But this time, he was busy playing with the kids.
Sophie tapped Keefe on the shoulder. "Bruce. Let's introduce my mom to our new friends."
Edaline raised an eyebrow at Sophie and "Bruce". Sophie shrugged. Keefe glanced up. "Oh. Yeah," he said.
"This is the lovely Cadence," Keefe introduced a little girl who looked around eight years old. She smiled, her pale face crinkling with dimples that reminded Sophie of Dex. Cadence's face was dotted with brown freckles and her strawberry blonde hair was braided into one long french braid. Cadence seemed to have Linh's personality, because she shyly hid behind Keefe.
"And this Daisy," Sophie said, gesturing to a girl who looked around the age of five. Daisy reminded Sophie much of her friend Maruca. The girl's dark hair was pulled up in a ponytail, and a pink streak was visible- just like Maruca's blue colored streak. She had chocolate brown skin and emerald green eyes that sparkled in the light. Daisy's confident grin matched Sophie's friend's pretty perfectly. Maybe a little dash of Marella in there with that feisty pose. She sure looked like she could set something on fire.
"Here is the fabulous Mae," Keefe told Edaline as he put a shoulder on the girl. She reminded Sophie of the Song twins. Her long black hair was down, and her bangs covered her eyes, much like Tam's. She had Linh's soft smile and grey blue moon-shaped eyes. Her personality was shouting, "BIANA" in bright sparkly letters. She looked like she was ready to take on anything, but she still had time to have fun. Her shirt had a glittery unicorn on it, because as Biana always says, "Sparkles make everything better."
"And this is Sara Jane." A girl with short, white blond hair and tan skin dotted with the occasional freckle stepped up. Her hair contained intricate braids reminding Sophie of Marella. Her face screamed, "Stina", with her indigo eyes and plotting smirk. Good thing she wasn't the one they were going to be adopting, Sophie thought. One Stina is enough.
And last but certainly not least, the one and only Emi," Keefe said, glancing at Edaline. Sophie knew she was twelve, but she could pass as thirteen or even fourteen. Well, technically she was thirteen in Elvin years... Emi had very light brown skin and strawberry brown hair. Her eyes were turquoise, almost the same color as Edaline's, but they had gold flecks in them, much like Sophie's.
🌌🌌🌌
Edaline filled out some paperwork, and Emi was theirs for the day.
And she was about to have the shock of her life.
Okay! I finally got the second chapter out! Yay! Also, the next chapter will be from Emi's POV, and she will discover that she is an elf and will get adopted by Grady and Edaline and become Sophie's sister. Everyone will be assigned adoptive parents or a parent from the lost cities- you can put in a request here if you'd like.
