Next morning...

The sun dances across the still surface of the lake. I breathe in the chill morning air, and gaze out at the water. It's early. The sun is still creeping up over the mountains as I sit on the bank, hugging my knees to my chest. I left Camilo in bed, sneaking out of the house while it was still dark. I needed to clear my head. We didn't leave things on bad terms, but he really seemed to be upset... My eyes look out at the water, but they are unseeing. All I can focus on is the pained look on Camilo's face after I told him I didn't know if I wanted kids.

The birds are chirping in the trees behind me, and I take a deep breath. I won't bring it up again, if it's meant to happen, it'll happen... I think to myself. I don't want to fight again. That I know for sure. Maybe we could have a baby, and be happy... I imagine me and Camilo, together, raising a child of our own, but from the back of my mind creeps all the worst case scenarios. I can feel a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach as I get up, ready to go back to the house for breakfast.

Back at Casita...

"Y/n! Where have you been, mi amor?" Camilo runs up to me as I enter the kitchen. He plants a kiss on my cheek and I give him a small smile. "I just needed to get some air." I tell him and he squeezes my hand, the two of us sitting down at the table. "You feeling ok, amor?" Camilo asks me, an anxious look on his face. "Mhm," I nod, stuff an arepa in my mouth to avoid talking. After a few minutes of eating I get up, and Camilo follows. I'm heading towards the lounge when Camilo grabs my wrist. "Y/n, wait," He says, turning me around to face him. "What is it, cariño?" I ask. "Come with me, let's do something special," He says, his eyes searching mine. I manage a small smile. "Ok, mi vida, that sounds great." I place a hand on his cheek and give him a kiss. "Excellente!" He says happily, and we begin to walk out of the front doors.

The village is waking up around us as we walk through the streets. I interlace my fingers with Camilos, and lean my head against his shoulder. Just relax, Y/n, you're here with him, he's not upset... I tell myself over and over. The townspeople wave in greeting to us, opening up their stores or hurrying off to do early morning errands. "Where are we going, mi amor?" I ask. "Our spot, of course!" Camilo responds excitedly. I laugh, planting a kiss on his shoulder. When we reach the edge of the village we stray from the path, and head up a small mountain, through the bushes and trees up into a clearing at the hill's peak. Huffing and puffing a little from the climb, I collapse onto the grass, surrounded by vibrant colours of greens and pinks and yellows. Beside me Camilo lies down, stretching out his arm to allow me to rest my head on it.

"It's peaceful up here," Camilo sighs, after we've both caught our breaths. "It is," I agree, gazing up at the bright blue sky. Fluffy clouds float across the sky, casting shadows along the ground. The next hour is filled with our conversations and laughter. The weight in my stomach begins to lift a little, and I feel myself relaxing. "Tu es muy hermosa," Camilo whispers, stroking my hair with his hand. "You've told me that a million times, corazon," I giggle, rolling my eyes. "I mean it everytime," He says, smirking. "Well, you're not too bad yourself," I say teasingly. "Come here you!" He exclaims, pulling me closer to him and tickling my sides. I burst out laughing, squirming in his arms to try to escape. I manage to roll away, colliding with a nearby bush as I roll across the grass. "BAHAHAHA" I hear Camilo's laughter. "Don't laugh, idiota!" I exclaim as I scramble out of the thick leaves of the bush. "I couldn't help it, amor," He covers his mouth to hide his smile. I roll my eyes and sit back down next to him.

We both turn our heads to face each other at the same time, and next moment Camilo pulls my face towards his. All my worries about our fight yesterday fade away, and all I focus on is Camilo's lips on mine. I run my hands through his hair and my blouse doesn't stay on for much longer. Soon we're on the ground, wrapped in each other's embrace. His hands hold onto me, supportive, reassuring, loving. The feeling of his body against mine is beautiful, and perfect.

After a while I roll onto my back, a smile on my face, breathing heavily. I can hear Camilo catching my breath beside me. "You really are the most incredible women I have ever met." Camilo gasps, turning to look at me, a goofy smile on his face. "Don't flatter me too much, hermoso," I laugh, leaning my neck forward to kiss him gently. "That was great," I say, looking back up at the clouds. "It was- you were- God I love you, Y/n," Camilo says, sitting up. I pull myself up, and lean against his frame. "I love you too Cami." After a few more minutes, I re-button my blouse, and Camilo pulls his shirt back on. Hand in hand, we begin the walk back home. Stopping for lunch in the village, by the time we reach Casita it's early afternoon. The rest of the day I spend with my husband, helping out around the house. All thoughts of our brief argument from the day prior have left my mind completely.

10 days later...

I'm sitting beside Camilo at breakfast when Abuela gets to her feet at the end of the table. "I have exciting news!" She exclaims, beaming. "A new door has appeared, which means, we will soon be welcoming a new member to la familia Madrigal!" I nearly choke on the water I was drinking. Everyone begins to talk excitedly, and I stare at Camilo, who has a terrified look of shock plastered across his face. The sinking feeling returns to my stomach. Fuck...
