Chapter 3: A Rocky Start

Kyle, Shawn, Sarah and Rachel walk along the highway until they see a water tower in the distance.

Sarah: Now, here we go...

Sarah points to the water tower, before the four walk over to the railing and look down at the woods.

Kyle: Yeah, it'll be faster through here.

Kyle hops down as Shawn, Sarah and Rachel follow.

Rachel: Man...

Rachel looks around at the environment.

Shawn: What?

Rachel: Nothing. It's just...I've never seen anything like this, the woods, I mean.

Kyle: Seriously?

Rachel: Dead serious....why don't you just let me go to Taker city on my own?

Kyle: Fourteen year old girl walking around in the wasteland without protection. Yeah, that's gonna end spectacularly.

Sarah: If Dodge was up to the task himself, then why'd he drop you off on us?

Rachel: Maybe you could try contacting him....

Kyle: Uh-huh.....with what fucking radio?

The four made it through the woods and up to a gate. Shawn goes to open it but it was locked.

Kyle: Well shit.

Rachel: Should we climb it?

Sarah looks up to see barbed wires all along the top.

Sarah: No, wire on top of it. We gotta find a way around.

The four go over to the side.

Rachel: Whoa....

Kyle, Shawn and Sarah see that Rachel is playing with butterfly on her finger.

Rachel: It's a butterfly.

Shawn: Yeah, we see that.

A small smile appears on Sarah's face. The butterfly then flies off of Rachel's finger. Sarah turns to see a small building in front of them. Sarah runs up the air conditioner and climbs on top of it, then up the roof. Kyle, Shawn and Rachel follow as Kyle finds a wooden plank leaning against the side of the building. Kyle picks it up then brings it over to lay across the gap between the building they were on to the building that was on the other side of the fence. The four walk across it when Kyle looks up to see smoke rising up far in the distance.

Kyle: Is that you, Rocky?

Rachel: Where'd you guys usually meet him?

Shawn: Different places.

The four walk along the rooftop.

Rachel: You guys have never been here before, have you?

Shawn: Look, we know this is where he lives...but...no, we've never been here personally.

Rachel: And that smoke, you think that's him?

Sarah: Hope so.

Kyle: Well, let's go check then.

The four jump down from the roof and walk down a steep hill. Rachel is attempting to whistle.

Sarah: What the hell are you doing?

Rachel: I'm trying to whistle.

Shawn: You don't know how to whistle?

Rachel: Well, what do you think?

Kyle: It's okay. I'm pretty bad at whistling.

Shawn: It's kinda easy.

Rachel: Shit. For you.
