Unfortunately, I have no one to ask to answer my next question. Even though I know that everybody envies somebody, I don't know a person who could give me a satisfactory answer to this question.

What is envy?

Envy is an emotion that occurs when a person lacks the superior quality, success, or possessions of another person and either desires them or wishes that the other person did not have them. Aristotle defined envy as pain at the sight of another's good fortune, stirred by "those who have what we ought to have". Bertrand Russell said that envy was one of the most potent causes of unhappiness. Envy is many times confused with jealousy. The two emotions are very similar and are used as synonymous nowadays. People envy each other's cars, financial situation, property, wives and opportunities . I not only envy but downright feel disgust towards people who are optimistic. I'm not going to justify my judgment but I will stand by it. I envy people who wake up and don't think about how they will get through the day. I envy people who plan things ahead. I don't have that option, every day I'm on the verge of deciding if I'm going to wake up tomorrow or if I'm going to take my last breath today. I envy people who enjoy life. I'm envious. I'm an opportunist. If I could, I'd take their joy away with a snap of my fingers.  My parents probably wouldn't be happy if they knew where I stood. They didn't raise me that way. It's just the way I am whether you like it or not. And there's no point in changing anything, considering I'll be gone soon.
