298 I'm Happy to Help

When two people who were in love with each other and didn't want to break up finally talked about their feelings and how to make their relationship better, the results would be correspondingly good. Especially so when the two people involved were like Rui Lan and Cang Gui Ying who already had the experience of things not working out once. It helped that they both understood more or less just why things had happened back then. Now, they knew what to bring up and how to deal with these things.

Their talk lasted several hours. When it came to their original points, they could have been resolved much sooner but they wanted to find solutions that would work long-term instead of just putting a band-aid over the issues they had.

Also, after they had found something they could do about this, they also talked about some other things that had put some strain on their relationship. None of those were as big of a problem as their unequal wishes regarding time spent together, but still, after adding everything up, they still felt that it was better to talk about it.

By the end of it, they both felt that things were good. Even though it wasn't clear whether they would be able to do everything they had agreed on, at the very least, having the plan was a step forward. And this kind of conversation ... Earlier this day, they couldn't have imagined it. Now, they had managed to do it and found solutions for their problems. That progress could actually be considered fast.

In the evening, Rui Lan was holding his phone, hesitating while looking at the screen. "We should probably give Ah Ming a call, right?"

Cang Gui Ying turned to look at him from where she was preparing dinner and looked at him with some confusion. "Why wouldn't we?"

"Well ... we managed to save our relationship before it implodes. He's still single though."

Cang Gui Ying put down the pan she had just taken out and shook her head. "I wouldn't worry about that. He didn't sound like he minds being single. I think he really needs some time for himself. It's a pity for the guys out there but if it's better for him, then that's the only thing that should count for us."

Rui Lan chuckled when she said that and indeed gave Li Ming that call. Waiting for him to pick up, he couldn't help but continue joking with his girlfriend. "Well, when he is ready, he'll make somebody very happy."

Cang Gui Ying nodded and then turned back, giving him time for the call with Li Ming. Anyway, they should be grateful for his help. Without him, they wouldn't have been able to make it. She was also aware of that.

Li Ming had actually been curious about how things were going over there and had worried more the longer Rui Lan didn't even send a message, finally even expecting that the worst had happened. Seeing him call now, he felt apprehensive. "Ah Lan, how are you?"

Rui Lan raised his brows and then couldn't help but laugh. "We didn't break up if you mean that."

Li Ming exhaled deeply and leaned back on his couch. "Well, that's good to hear. I was worried."

Rui Lan grinned and got up, walking over to Cang Gui Ying's side and elbowing her before pointing at the ingredients in front of her. Anyway, he could do something at the side while having this call. "Our talk lasted a bit longer than expected and then I wasn't sure if I should call immediately or not. But now, we had some time to adjust to the new situation so I figured it was a good time. We're making dinner together."

Li Ming gave a hum. "Sounds like things are indeed better between you."

"They definitely are. Really, thank you so much. I wouldn't have been able to do this without you. You saved my relationships there."

Li Ming laughed, feeling that this might be exaggerating but then again, he had also seen how these two looked earlier today. Maybe he had indeed helped out more than he had figured at first. "Well, we're friends. I'm always happy to help if you need me."

Rui Lan nodded. "Same to you. If you have any problems, you can always come to us."

"I know." Li Ming looked at the screen of the laptop in front of him that still showed the search results from when he had been looking for a job just now. "You know, if I do need help, I'll get back to you.

"Now though, you just made up. So don't bother about me right now and focus on your relationship. When you're free one of these days, you can shoot me a message. We can meet up again."

Rui Lan nodded while helping Cang Gui Ying at the side. "I'll definitely do that. This time, we'll invite you! You're not allowed to reject!"

"Alright, then I'll tentatively accept your invitation. We just need to find a day when we all have time."

"Mn. Well, I probably shouldn't bother you any longer. You mentioned you had a lot of stuff to do. How are you managing?"

Li Ming sighed when he mentioned that, not sure how to answer. "Well, I did review my notes but on the front of finding a job ... I might be having a bit more of a problem."

Rui Lan clicked his tongue at that. "I still know some guys working in security from my previous jobs. "I could listen around if there's an opening somewhere."

For a moment, Li Ming kept quiet. In the end, he could only sigh though. "That would be nice but ... you know, it's not that I couldn't find work as a security guard. I'm just ... well, I just realized how lucky I got with the job at the railroad station. Working anywhere ... it's not always easy if you're gay. Not everyone is as excepting as Boss Mo but I don't want to have to hide my orientation either." Really, he should've thought of that earlier.
