Si Tao shook his head at him and sighed. "You're worthy of being a teacher. You're really able to turn everything around on the other person, aren't you?"
Linghu Jiahao just laughed. "That wasn't on purpose. I simply don't know what else to look for. I'm not particular about looks and I'm not sure if I would deal better with somebody who was similar to Mo Fang or somebody who is completely different. So those are all things I can't name.
"As for other things ..." He sighed deeply as well. "I don't think there is anything specific or maybe it's just that I can't think of anything on short notice. So, since you want to set me up and also want me to name something I want in a partner, as a friend, you should also help me out here!"
At the side, Li Ming couldn't help but smile. Actually, this wasn't the first thing he would have thought of when it came to being a teacher but now that Si Tao had brought it up, he had to say that it was true. Back in the course, Linghu Jiahao would do the same: If you asked him a question he thought was interesting, he'd first ask for your opinion and then the opinion of the others in the course before giving an answer of his own. So this was indeed something he seemed to like to do.
In this situation, Li Ming couldn't help but feel that it wasn't such a bad idea either. Anyway, if it helped him overcome his troubles, wouldn't that be good? And after two years of suffering from almost the same problem, he might be able to give some sound advice.
Since nobody else had spoken up yet, he took the initiative to do so. "Well, if it was me, I'd be looking for somebody who is honest and likes to live a quiet life. It would be good if we shared some interests but that is not something I would necessarily require. It's also good if my partner and I have different hobbies."
Zhao Chen glanced at him, not surprised at all about what Li Ming was saying. After these days together, that was exactly the impression he had gotten from him. As for whether he fulfilled these requirements ... well, they weren't high. The only problem he could see was that he wasn't sure whether Li Ming's want for a quiet life and his need for new stimulation would go hand-in-hand for a long time. But that was something he was willing to find out.
Meanwhile, Linghu Jiahao gave a hum. "Not bad. Honestly, I thought about the first point but then, that is something of a minimal threshold for me. A guy that isn't honest to me can't even enter my eyes. And I'll trust in Ah Tao that he won't recommend me some scumbag."
Si Tao next to him laughed. "No, don't worry. I don't like playing that kind of prank on people. I don't think I have those kinds of friends either." Honestly, while he had a lot of friends, he was still picky about them. When you had money, it was easy to have people who didn't actually like you gather around just because they were hoping for benefits. Thus, he didn't think that there was somebody around who was prone to lying.
Linghu Jiahao also knew about Si Tao's considerations in that regard so he wasn't too worried. In fact, this was one of the reasons why he was actually willing to give this a try. If the person was recommended by Si Tao, they shouldn't be too bad. "Either way, I'm just not sure what I want. Then again, I was the same back then when Mo Fang and I met. I never really thought about how I wanted my partner to be. I guess I just ... waited for the right person to come by?"
He thought for a moment but yes, that was precisely how he had felt. He had never felt rushed. Anyway, he was gay. Currently, there was no way to get married. So for him, he could only ever enter a relationship and then decide to stay in it or not. There was no big life goal to work toward. Thus, he hadn't thought that there was a reason to feel rushed. Whether he found the right person at twenty, twenty-five, or thirty, what did it really matter?
Over the years, he had had a couple of relationships, some short, some long. He hadn't been unhappy in any of them but they also hadn't worked out in the end. So he walked away from them, feeling that he had learned a lot, but still looking for this person who could move his heart and occupy a place in it for the rest of his life. And then, he had met Mo Fang.
He knew he probably shouldn't say it. This year, he had indeed passed thirty years of age. It wasn't that young anymore but also not too old. Speaking of having found the love of his life though ... maybe that was wrong. Anyway, they weren't even together. They had broken up as early as four years ago. Where was that the grand love he had been chasing?
He sighed deeply when he thought of it and finally just shook his head. "Ah, don't force me to think it through this evening. I wouldn't be able to give you an answer even if you gave me a week. You just see if there is somebody you think might be good and set up something! I'll give it a try and hope for the best. Anyway, what's the worst that can happen?"
Si Tao raised his brows and switched to his contact list, slowly scrolling through. "Well, I could try and set you up with another one of Mo Fang's exes. Brother Li might have been snatched up but I'm sure I know others. Then the two of you could build a connection through commiserating about your crushed dreams."
At that, Linghu Jiahao choked. Really, why had he agreed to this in the first place?
