Solace

I had a terrifying nightmare my brother had to wake me up...

He said I was grumbling unintelligent words

Yet moaning in pain and screaming at the same time...My chest felt tight and crying was inevitable.

Yet I woke up and after a second of listening to the thunderous, erratic beat of my heart,

I picked up the phone and checked to see if you had been awake

You weren't, still...The disappointment more than fear, frightened me.

Because this means you have become some special thing in my heart...The crack in the armor, and the weakness in my heels.

If you had been awake, all I ever wanted to tell you,

Was of how afraid I was...And you were the only solace that I seek,

And the only the safeguard that I choose.

Even if I am still uncertain and insecure of my place in your heart...I'd still run to you.
