'I never wished to be a part of such a broken world. But here I am...''I grew up in poverty, I didn't get such privileges of having friends, but even if I did, I would've lost them to man-eating monsters, maybe that is why I choose to never bring anyone close. Because sooner or later, it'll be either me or them.'
After defeating the unranked demons, everyone fell asleep, it was all so sudden. It didn't feel right, but no one could've fought it.

"(Y/n)!!" A soft voice echoed through the forest as you slowly open your eyes.
Your cheek smooshed in the mud below, your uniform drenched, you pick yourself up swiftly. Underneath your haori, you drag out your sword, keeping a firm grip on it.
*SNAP*
You shook a bit at the sound of a twig snapping. You turn all around, practically dancing around, letting mud sink into your shoes.
"(Y/n), why are you still out here? It's raining, and you're a mess!" A worried voice calls out as you turn around with tense shoulders.
"I know it's your first time back and all, but really, no need to always have a defense up," As you look at the sweet voice, your shoulders drop.
A woman pinned up (h/c) looked at you with soft, caring pink eyes. She didn't age a day, you thought.
You dropped your sword and started to walk over to her open hand.
"Mama?" You asked quietly as you collapsed in her arms.
Her warm embrace kept you safe. Everything about it was comforting. The way it felt as if nothing could've hurt you or her.
That's the way it was always supposed to be.

"You have a mud burn on your cheek, what did you do? Slip and fall?" Mom asked as you smiled at her.
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine, now," You say as she presses her hands all over your face with the back of her hand.
"You don't have a fever, do you? It was awfully cold out there, especially with no scarf, blanket, or haori, just a kimono. We can't afford another one, so please, don't rip it," She says as she stands up and walks over to the kitchen.
"Well, I hope you're hungry, because I'm making Kare-Raisu, your favorite," She says as you fumble around trying to rush back to her.
"Kare-Raisu?! Mama, you know that's all too expensive, we can't afford pork!" You shout as she turns around and smiles at you.
"Expensive or not, making it is more important. I rarely get to see you as is. I'd sell an arm and a leg for this," She says as she opens the fridge to gather ingredients.
"Oh! Would you mind gathering water? My strength has not been all too great now that I'm aging," She asks as you nod and hurry out.
But before you could leave out the front door, you touch your face.
"My mask!" You shout and run back to mom and she begins rinsing off carrots.
"Mama, have you seen my mask?" You ask as she tilts her head slightly.
"Mask? What mask?" She asks as you blank for a moment.
"Never...Mind..." You say slowly as you walk out the door.
