There was a momentary feeling of flying before she hit the ground with a loud thud.
"This isn't Hogwarts," Cho pointed out immediately, hand in Cedric's as she looked around inquisitively. Harry lowered him to the ground.
There were no stands full of people, no professors, no cheers of victory waiting for them. Was there another part of the task? The large cauldron stood out the most of all - maybe another potion? Maybe Dumbledore was going to jump out and yell 'gotcha!' She didn't even have a guess at what was going on, but every instinct in her said to flee.
You knew it was a trap.
"Wands out," Hyacinth suggested hesitantly, taking steps to follow after Harry who already started to wander. Cho knelt down next to Diggory, her stance protective, as Harry nodded in front of her
The more Hyacinth looked, the more suspicious she felt. They were in a graveyard, tombstones and all, complete with a church in the distance. Past that on the hill sat an old house. They had to be at least miles away. She studied a figure, hiding in the shadows hidden by a cloak. The figure seemed to hold an infant. Warning bells screamed in suspicion and Hyacinth looked back at Cho. "Hide," she mouthed.
She glanced over at Harry to see if he was seeing this shit or if she was just crazy, but Harry was looking elsewhere.
"We should leave," Harry said suddenly, breaking the silence as he pointed to a marble headstone. "It's-"
Harry stopped mid-sentence, buckling to the ground in tandem with her. Pain shot through her temple, worse than her headaches and worse than the full moon. The only pain it was comparable to was that first year, in the forest next to the dead unicorn, and she curled into herself as the feeling of her brain splitting intensified. She could hear Harry's grunt in agony over her own hiss of pain.
She tilted her head up to see the cloaked figure looming over them, sans baby, with a wand pointed right in her face.
She was knocked back into the tombstone, her head slamming against the marble as their wands were snatched from them. She blinked back the sudden dizziness, the world blurring around her as she slumped against the stone. Ropes appeared out of the person's wand, wrapping around her. As she struggled, she caught a glimpse at what startled Harry before the pain hit.
Tom Riddle, the tombstone read.
Not I.
Harry fought harder than her, struggling against the same ropes that had her pressed against the stone. Her body felt heavy, her mind disoriented at the happening around her. She sent a kick towards the cloaked person after their fist hit her brother; only she was allowed to hit her brother! Another rope appeared around her feet.
"You!" Harry exclaimed. "Wormtail!"
"Of course," Hyacinth muttered as the man in question walked over to the large cauldron set up in the middle of the cemetery. He started to stir at whatever potion he had cooking. Her eyes wildly shot around to her surroundings. A bundle of robes laid next to the cauldron - the baby. Why did Pettigrew have a baby? "What is this, Hansel and Gretel? Are you going to eat us? After I let you go?"
"Hyacinth," Harry said quietly. The 'shut up' was clearly added.
You should shut up.
" Let me antagonize him. He's sloppy when he's stressed, " Hyacinth hissed to Harry. "Oh rat boy! Are you cooking us dinner over there? Least you could do after betraying our parents, innit?"
Pettigrew lit up the bottom of the cauldron, heating whatever potion he was making. In the process, while Hyacinth spoke, he fumbled with his wand. "You don't understand," said he with his irritatingly whiny voice, turning to give her the most desperate stare.
