Day 1, May 12th
Dear Diary,
Because this is my first entry, I should probably explain what I’m doing. My name is Daniel Nicholas Reis; I’m 23 years old. This is not as much a diary as a Log of Days. I’m keeping track of every day I spend on this corner.
I should explain that too. Claryse Williams is the most beautiful girl in all the universe. She has long blonde hair and blue eyes, and is almost as tall as me. She’s an up-and-coming model for a new fashion company. I asked her to marry me three days ago. She said no. Then she left for New York City. Before she was gone, I told her that if she changed her mind, I would be at the corner where we first met. So here I am. I’ve got a sleeping bag and pillow, and I’ve allotted one hour a day (from midnight to 1 in the morning) for showers and eating. I’m using my iPhone, a present from Claryse for my last birthday, as my alarm clock.
So anyway, this is Day 1. Nothing has happened except that I’ve gotten a few odd stares from people walking past. I’ve decided that I’m going to get a radio and maybe a laptop so that I have something to do all day. For now, I only have the book she bought me for Christmas – Plumbing for Dummies. It was a not-so-subtle hint. I figure that when she comes back, I should at least know how to fix the toilet.
It’s about 9:00 at night now. There aren’t too many people around on the streets by now, but there are enough to make me a little uneasy. I’m not going to move though. I have to be here for when she comes back.
I guess I should go to sleep now. I’ll wake up at 12, and then again at 8, so I’ll write more then.
