It's been about a month since dinner with my mom and a lot has happened since then.
For starters, I finally got my own apartment. I took in a part-time job at a diner to pay for Dad's bills and move out.
My dad has been sober since he left the hospital and even met a special someone.
Me and Nico have been on great terms and are even going on a date later today
"Excuse me earth to Jasmine you have a table waiting on you." My coworker's voice makes me jump.
"Sorry I spaced out," I say grabbing my notepad and walking off.
I recognize some of the faces at the table I'm serving.
It's the football team, I've met them on a couple of occasions. And let's just say they're a bunch of pricks.
I walk up to the table as they talk extremely loud pushing and shoving each other.
"Hi I'm Jasmine and I'll be your waiter for the evening" I put on a friendly and welcoming smile.
"Hey, baby doll I'm David" He sends me a wink.
I give him an awkward smile, "What can I get you boys today"
They all state their orders except for one boy who was sitting on the edge of the table next to me.
His jacket was over his head and he appeared to be asleep.
I tap hip on his shoulder.
"Fuck off" I dark rough voice echos.
Wait a minute....Nicholas?
"Nico?" My eyebrows furrow in confusion.
His head shoots up and he has a shocked expression on his face.
"Fuck I'm sorry I didn't know it was you" He rubs his temple.
I chuckle, "Yea I started working here part-time"
"You want anything to eat?"
"No I'm good, can I just have a lemonade"
I write down the remaining orders and drinks"Sure thing, I'll be back with your drinks in a minute."
As I'm walking off I hear someone whistle. I got uncomfortable after and decided to pull my shirt down further to hide my backside.
A few minutes later I return with their drinks.
"Your food will be out in a little, is there anything else I could help you out with".
"Yea, what time you get off baby?" David speaks up while sending me a toothy grin.
"Sorry I have a boyfriend," I say attempting to stop his lame attempt at flirting.
"Aw, c'mon babe he ain't gotta know" His hand starts to reach toward me.
Nico immediately grabs his arm "Want me to break your fucking arm?"
Nico was livid and David seemed confused and scared.
"No man It was just a joke Jesus calm down"
Nico lets his arm go "Be fucking respectful, you fucking prick."
I walk off and bring their food not long after. David didn't say anything else to me their remaining time there.
As the boys began to pack their leftovers and get ready to go I walk up to their table.
