Enjoy <3
(Jasmines pov)Me and Nicholas grab a nearby booth, at the diner I had suggested. Both of us sit in the red and white booth near the window.
The smell of so many different foods such as pancakes, pies, and bacon, all flooded my nostrils. Making me eager to order.
After looking at my menu for a few minutes I notice that he hadn't said anything since we arrived.
"Sooo," I say sheepishly placing down my menu. He doesn't respond, instead, he keeps scrolling on his phone.
"Not much of a talker huh?" I say, hoping to gain a conversion out of it. Instead, I get a muffled "mmhm".
"I wanted to thank you for helping me at that party by the way," I say kind of embarrassed.
"So Derricks your brother?" He says finally looking up at me.
"No, and yes," I say hoping it would make sense"
He raises one eyebrow in confusion.
"Well, my mom married his dad after she divorced my dad," I say trying to explain.
"So how come he never talked about you?"
"See that's the funny thing I just met Derrick, he lived with his mom and I moved with my dad before we could meet''
"So what are you like staying at a dorm?" He questions, kind of shyly.
(I Love talking to him) Breaking eye contact I respond. "No, I'm staying with Derrick at the moment"
He responds with a reserved and kind of grumpy "Hmm" I can't help but giggle at his furrowed eyebrows.
"So what about you?" I ask hoping to get to know him better.
As soon as he opens his mouth the waiter walks up to the table, making us divert our attention to her.
"What can I get you two today," She says pulling out her small notepad with yellow pages. Like the one, I use at the cafe.
"Um I'll have a medium glass of orange juice," I say with a welcoming smile, which she does not return.
"And you?" She questions looking down at Nicholas. "I'm fine" Is all he mutters.
"I'll be back in 15 for your orders" Is all she says whilst popping the pink bubble gum she had been chewing on.
"So what are you gonna order?" I ask as he looks at the menu.
"Breakfast meal with apple juice," He says while grabbing my menu.
"Rude," I say glaring at him, making him return it to me.
I say slyly, "Good job, you're learning," while making eye contact with him.
We break eye contact when he turns red and looks away.
He asks me, "Can you order for me?" without looking at me."""
"Sure," I say, giving im a warm smile (I wonder if he's shy)
Thank you, he says a little above a whisper.
It is quite different from what I expected to see. This big scary football player just makes me smile.
We start talking more and more slowly opening up to each other. l It was little things like what he liked and disliked.
I couldn't take him seriously when he said he hated bananas.
"Your joking right?" I say shocked. "They're gross," he says making a disgusted face.
I laugh, trying to cover my mouth so that I wouldn't make too much noise.
We had finally gotten our food and decided to get milkshakes to finish off the day.
As we laughed and talked, the diner's nose slowly drained from my ears. Like we were the only people there. the raindrops hit the glass window of our booth, as we laughed as we sipped our milkshakes.
But the best part wasn't the food (being funny enough.)
The feeling of being wanted, being with him in that booth, and having the time of our lives, was everything I needed.
This is the first time I have felt wanted.
Hope you enjoyed (Leave constructive criticism)
Also, stay safe and have a good day!
