I woke up to an empty bed this morning. Despite the fact that Valina slept beside me, she seemed to have disappeared. Either this morning or in the middle of the night. I roll over to lay on my other side, glancing at the clock. 7:45 am. Deciding its way too early to deal with the entire day, I roll back over and shut my eyes attempting to fall back asleep. Just as I'm about to drift away, the door to my room opens. Rose.

"Morning meds!" She states, forcibly smiling at me.

"Ugh, it's too early." I respond stretching back over my bed sheets and burying my face in my one fluffy pillow.

"8 is wake-up time here..." she trails off, "where's Valina?"

"How would I know, I'm still in bed."

Rose slams my medication down on the rounded nightstand beside my bed, then she heads to the bathroom. Her eyes are enlarged as she returns to my bedside.

"What do you know Hanna?"

Huh? I don't know anything. Val clearly left and doesn't want to be here, which no one should blame her for. You'd think that when treating depression they wouldn't lock you up like prisoners. This room is sad.

"I told you, I just woke up. Why're you so worried?"

"Take your medication, don't leave this room. Okay?" She demanded.

"Not like I could go anywhere if I tried..." I mumbled as Rose left the room.

"What was that?" She turned back around.

"Nevermind."

The door automatically locked behind her and I was left alone again. I finally sat up on my bed, dangling my legs off the side of the mattress. I lean over and reach for my cup of medications. What're we taking this morning? The cup was practically empty, with just one red pill at the bottom. Tylenol. That's what Val said it was, to help with the pain of my wrists. I turned the patterned cup upside down, letting the pill fall into the sweaty palm of my left hand. After throwing the cup on the ground, I reached for the identical cup of water left on the nightstand. I popped the Tylenol in my mouth and followed it up with a swish of water.

Placing the cup back down in its spot, the door swung open once again. Val? She walked in and placed a card between her mattress and bed frame.

"Good morning." She greeted me, sitting herself down on her bed that she didn't sleep in.

I looked away from her, sensing that she was going to get in trouble for leaving her room this morning.
"Where were you?" I asked her, meeting her eyes.

"You all gave me a brilliant idea last night..."

I furrowed my brows in confusing. What was she referring to?

"I went to see Mack."

Oh. Her girlfriend.

"How'd that go?" I asked.

"Fine." She averted her gaze this time.

"Not well then?"

"I don't wanna talk about it okay."

I stayed silent while thinking of a new topic.
After two minutes passed, I spoke again.

"Rose was looking for you."

"Ya well, I was gone a little longer than I thought."

"How'd you even leave?"

Val reached under her mattress again, pulling out the card she hid there earlier.
