Authors Note: This is my very first fanfiction, so please have mercy on my soul. Obviously I don't own YuGiOh, just the original characters in this story.
"Mom.. do I really have to go to this party? I look like a dork!" I whined, as I stared into the mirror eyeing myself in the blue ball gown my mother had conned me into wearing.
"Emma, my dear!" She exclaimed. "You look beautiful, now hush and let me finish your makeup!"
I cringed as the foundation brush hit my face and sighed in defeat, knowing I wasn't going to get out of going to this party. My mother was a single mom, but the CEO of a printing company who published Duel Monster cards. The party that I was being forced to attend with her was being thrown by no other than Seto Kaiba, in celebration of a deal that has been made between him and my mother to combine Kaiba's gaming technologies with my mom's card printing.
"And.. done! You look beautiful!" Mom smiled as she spun me around toward the mirror. My midback length brown hair in curls sat perfectly against my pale skin that had been doused in make up. I blushed as I made eye contact with my own emerald eyes. 'Maybe this won't be so bad.."
My thought was interuppted by the chiming of the wall clock and my mother exclaiming, "Oh my goodness, we have to leave or we'll be late!" She grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me downstairs and out the door where mom's company limo was waiting outside for us. We piled in the car and mom gave the driver the address of where the party was to be held.
"I can't wait for you to meet Seto, Emma. He's not much older than you, and I must say he's quite the looker!" She winked as she finished her sentence. I sighed at my mother's attempts. I may have never met him before, but I've seen plenty of press confrences to know that he was cocky, aggorant and self centered. Not exactly the type of person I desired to be around.
We sat in silence until we pulled up to the venue. It was very emaculate and large, even a red carpet lined the walk way. Mom and I exited the limo and waved off the driver, then turned to walk into the party. The main room was so large, no words could do it justice. There were many tables with fresh flowers adorning them with multiple chairs as well. All the men were dressed in emaculate suits while the women were dressed in the most beautiful dresses I have ever seen and put all the school dances I had attended to shame. Seto Kaiba and his guests definitely spared no expensive, which I expected no different.
"Oh! There he is! Come on, Emma. I want you to meet him!" my mother said as she grabbed my wrist and dragged me through the crowd of people sipping from their wine glasses and nibbling on the appettizers. "Seto! Seto!"
I looked up when we finally came to a halt in front of a group of men standing in a circle. My mother reached her hand out to shake the hand of a tall thin man who stood around 6'1 with brown hair that sat perfectly and led to a pair of the most beautiful sapphire eyes I had ever seen. He didn't look like he had too many years on me. He smiled as he extended his out to my mother, and then reached out for mine. I had fallen into those blues eyes and proceeded to block out everything else in the room. I was in awe at the man who stood in front of me.
"Emma.. Emma!" my mom exclaimed as she elbowed me and snapped me back into reality. All the men in the circle were staring at me in a perplexed fashion. "This is my daughter Emma! She just graduated early from Domino High School, top in her class!" What was she trying to do? Sell me to him? He smiled at me and extended his hand to me in a business like fashion.
"Seto Kaiba, pleasure to meet the daughter of such a brilliant woman." he said as he nodded his head toward my mother. She blushed and shooed her hand at him with modesty. "I have a few things to attend to, but I'll come back around. Enjoy the party! None of this would be possible without you, Jeanine."
