He grinned as the girl tried to defend herself from his attacks. She was helpless and he was too powerful to overcome. Adrenaline was filling his blood streams. The scent of blood is irresistible and he was starving himself for a few days already. This was his kill, this is his food.
"It's a pity. You have such an angelic face my dear."
He said, caressing his victim's soft face. She was scared and he could hear her heart beat. Her soft skin felt heaven against his hands. He was already a monster. He have successfully succumbed to his fleshy desires.
"You're despicable"
He was a lone wolf. Unlike other Level B's who travel in groups or pairs, he was different. At first he tried not to succumb to his thirst for blood and flesh. That he was just a victim, that he never wanted to be one. It was all an accident. But as he grew hungry he realized he needed to feed to live. At first he started feeding on scraps, left overs by those who lost their trace of humanity. And the more he feeds, the more his need grows. An aswang will never find satisfaction, they will always hunger.
He saw the fear on his victims eyes. For a moment he doubted himself. Can he really do this? Harm someone? Kill someone because of a hunger he wants to satiate? He felt his visions go blurry and his body became heavier.
Viktor. My name is Viktor.
He told her his name. Something that he never did in the past feedings. For a moment he felt he was human, that he isn't a monster. The redness of his eyes slowly disappeared and his dilated pupils went back to normal. The girl however was frozen in fear, she stood still, still fearing for her dear life.
I'm sorry.
With a heavy sigh, he let her go.
Just what are you?
The girl asked, tears streaming down her cheeks. A feeling of relief got into her.
I... Don't even know.
He sadly replied, eyes set on the setting sun.
I can't remember anything. But there were injections, they did things on me. No, on us. My friends, they did something to my friends but I was the only one who survived.
The girl held his hands, her fear gone but was replaced with feelings of sadness for Viktor.
It's alright. You don't have to hurt people anymore. You're not like them. You're human.
Her words was comforting but his pain was dug deep inside of him. He doesn't understand who or what he really is. He let out a silent cry.
Thank you.
He uttered as he embraced the young girl.
A few days passed, Viktor became very close to the girl. They decided to leave Sector C together and find an escape route to Sector B. They must be quarantined for a few weeks but if they pass all the tests then they can at least live in peace. The darted between buildings, always careful not to attract any Level Bs around the area.
Viktor was salivating heavily. It's been days since he last had his feeding. His temperature was getting past normal and there were no medications available nearby unless they reach Sector B by the next five hours. The sun was already setting when they find an abandoned building that's just 8 kilometers away from the Sector B gate.
Viktor? Are you alright?
Julia was her name. She lost her family a few weeks after the reported outbreak. Trapped in her house, she was losing food supplies that's why she gambled venturing outside. It must have been luck that Viktor found her. Well at least she was spared.
