I lit up a stick of cigarette I found on my pockets and tried to recovered anything about my past. All that I can recall is that they found me in laying meters away from the gates of Sector B, badly injured and out of shape. The nurse told me that I'm part of a mission, a bad one - one that probably became known as the Disaster of Sector C. However, there's no memory of the event, not even the people I was with or the whole event itself. Nothing anymore makes sense, they keep on feeding me information - informations which either helps or non at all.
Each night, the nightmares intensifies. More vivid than the last one, someone's chasing me endlessly! Then when I see a light, I wake up to the burning sensation of my throat - like I was thirsting for something that which feels foreign. Maybe it began two weeks ago, upon deciding to stop taking the red pill the nurse gave me. So by taking the pill it started to get better and I go back to sleep. But recently the burning sensation turned to palpitations and the doctor advised me it was probably due to trauma I encountered or that there's something I was trying to remember.
My therapist told me about the symbols I was writing, "A", "B" and other alphabets. Those don't make sense to me but to her it does and she told me those were part of my missing memory. Just who am I? Who I was? And that girl ~ Serena. Just who is she?
There was a sudden knock on my room, probably one of the nurses checking me in. Slowly I took a peek to see who it was - Gail, the ruckus causing cadette from the third battalion. She keeps on visiting from time to time, though I don't know why.
"Hey Wolfy, how are you? Heard you've been discharged from the clinic." She bluntly asked.
"Yeah, so you've heard? I'm doing better. Talking to Kier was refreshing. He's less toxic." I replied, signaling her to leave.
"I've got something for you. Someone left this at the office earlier, someone from Sector B. He's like some scientist or something."
"Who is it from? Got any name?" She handed me a parcel, laced with a red ribbon which was labeled Project Zero.
"Andrei, I think that was it.. well have fun reading. I need to go patrol, see you around." And just that she disappeared.
It was getting late, however there was still enough time for me to check on the parcel that was given to me. Apparently this was the first thing I've received in five years. No one knows me, not even a family. There's hope I think, someone must have known what happened to me five years ago. I jumped at my bed, and opened the parcel. There were a lot of documents - mostly findings about "Aswangs", laymen term for the infected. These are old write ups that dates back 6 - 7 years ago. Some time after the first outbreak. The notes were old, probably were stored in a trunk or something, but it proved substantial. These findings were the once discussed at the training room by the higher ops, so I blindly change pages. There were picture, mutilated bodies, disembodied figures and all sort of horrific things anyone can imagine. There was curiosity stirring inside me. Why was these documents sent to me? What does this Andrei aims to achieve? Questions began to fill up my mind.
"Missing People, there had been a number of significant disappearances that occurred. Some bodies were never found and had been presumed dead."
Was I one of those missing people? I had to figure out. No one seemed to be familiar, not even the other military officers who were on the list. Until I came across a familiar name - Viktor San Sebastián but the photo had been ripped out.
"Missing since June, body has never been found and his family presumed him dead. The case had already been closed."
San Sebastián? Was that my family name? Is this Me? What the hell is going on? Why now!
