"You have to save him. I beg you."
Julia pleaded, grasping on to Spade's trench coat. It was dark, cold and raining hard. Sector C has been completely abandoned and ran over with infected ones - Level E Aswangs who've lost their ability to function. Clovis had been badly injured and Ace was taking care of him.
"Julia..." Spade said, tapping her shoulder. "There is little chance we'll find Viktor. Rest assured that once back up comes we will seek him."
"But Spade, it's only a matter of time when will Viktor succumb to the infection. We are well aware of his condition yet Freya sent him with us."
"We can't question her!! She's law." Clovis shouted in anger.
"We will find a way get out of here alive. Don't worry. I bet they're already sending their troops." Ace assured the group.
The group managed to take out a few numbers of Aswangs, however lost Viktor along the process during one of the explosions at Oak Street. They were overrun and had to make a quick escape. Viktor who seemingly sacrificed himself so that the others can escape was taken in by the Level E's into parts unknown.
The sound of water was annoying. I couldn't sleep properly, it feels as well I was somewhere moist, underground probably. Opening my eyes it was dark. Searching through my body I've found out they've taken away all my weapons... though I was left unharmed. It's weird, why they didn't attack me? Was it because I was one of them? But I look human, normal and probably edible. Wasn't I appetizing? Joking to myself, I heard a loud bang right above me which shook the roof and rubbles started falling down. I needed an escape.
Julia checked for any sign of life within the building. There was an evacuation order signed three weeks ago but it only commenced yesterday. Their team was sent to spearhead the event and rescue those who were trapped within the makeshift city. Sector C had been lost months ago but people still were hesitant on leaving. After all she recalled that she met Viktor on Blood Alley.
He was scary, he didn't look like a zombie but his eyes were glowing crimson, with his skin pale and lips dripping with blood. At first she thought it was the end of her however Viktor helped her escape and they met Spade, Clover and Scheinder along the way. The five of them managed to get into Sector A, unharmed and were deployed to serve the military a few weeks after.
"You planned to kill him the moment you saw him." Julia recalled, eyeing on Spade who was puffing his cigarette.
"Scheinder wanted to, but aren't you the one who stopped us?" Clovis answered in a distance.
"Come on, that happened two months ago already. It's better to move forward. Don't be alarmed we won't abandoned our comrades, especially a friend." Ace added, making Julia assured.
"We need to get out of here alive." Julia added, setting her eyes on the horizon. Sector C lay waste. It's like a scene out from a post apocalyptic horror movie - and they're the main actors.
There was a wailing siren not far from my location. I had hoped it was the rescue team finally securing the perimeter issuing a rescue operation. A few meters away from me was the exit to the dark sewage I was in, though I had no idea where in Sector C I was. Slowly I checked the area if there was a sign of life or any infected ones were nearby.
"Hey? Are you hurt?" There was a girl laying on the ground. She's probably knocked unconscious. There were no bite marks found on her body, however her pulse was slow. I tried to help her up but she wasn't responding. The siren sounded louder, almost as if it's just a few kilometers from us. Then, there it was I saw two jets flying above us - they weren't planning a rescue mission, they were going to wipe the whole place out with a bomb. I was fearing for my life and my friends.
