Chapter 4
The city streets lay empty and corpses are piling up. Three days to the event and no one has no idea what happened on that frightful evening on the 9th of July. There was a killer at large, murdering and probably eating his victims. Then more and more bodies appeared but suddenly the murders stopped. Then it came back again, this time it came back with the killers, they were a lot.
Deranged people, salivating and hungry for human flesh; their skin are bluish and their mouths are covered in black fluid. They are victims of the aswangs, but their blood isn’t compatible with pure aswang blood, so they turned into Type E aswangs.
We we’re losing hope.
The local government divided the city in three sectors, A,B & C. The infected were located at Sector C, the eastern side of the town. Our home was just an hour drive away from sector C but the cases in our place were low. The local police were able to drive most of the Type E out. A lot have died, but that is to ensure the safety of those who wanted to leave. Massive quarantine were done to those who came from Sector C, the government has not ideas yet on how the A-virus spreads. They don’t accept the fact that aswangs did cause the widespread pandemic but they are certain that there are people behind it.
No one was to blame because nobody really knew what happened. Three days ago I was just an ordinary college student who just happened to be having a nice conversation with a friend then we suddenly got involved in a murder case and worse. My sister and I stayed at the main headquarters; Serana was reunited with her mother and are staying at a hotel located at Sector B. The police and the military set up barricades to ensure safety of people in Sector B. We on the other hand stayed at Sector A. I can no longer go home, I have lost it. I only have my sister with him. I heard that our mother has left for abroad. People outside of our city weren’t aware of the incident. The media was blocked.
Serana phoned earlier and said she would like to meet up. I was eager to see her and ask more questions. I can still remember the three shady figures that attacked us that night on the headquarters. I guess I need to know, I deserve an answer. I closed the book I was reading, surely reading more survival horror novel isn’t a good pastime during situations like this. I told my sister I had to go, and she gave me her hand gun.
“Keep it safe, whatever happens go directly here and nowhere else.” She reminded me and smiled; I smiled back and bid her goodbye.
Serana was standing outside the vintage café. Life in Sector A was normal, even though there are cops patrolling the streets. She was dressed in pastel, with her are folders and a brief case. I sometimes wonder where she gets her information. I have a lot of things I want to ask, but right now I want to know about the Aswangs.
“Type E aswangs are the lowest ones, they’re just humans who fell victims into some voodoo rituals. To stop the madness we need to locate the source blood and destroy it.” Serana said. I guess she has picked herself up because she is back to her usual, enthusiastic self.
“Really? Why do you know all these stuff?” I questioned. I wanted to believe her but I am more overrun by doubt.
“I have a book about rituals. If you listen to your literature class, zombies are reincarnated slaves of witch doctors.” She further explained. “Same goes for these the Type E.”
I was getting her point and she showed me more pictures.
“I’ve got these photos from a source. These are the Type E aswangs, they’re indeed zombified.” She added. “There is nothing we can do to revert them back, as you can see some of them were already mutilated.”
