Casper

Come on over, she says.

Oh, it can't be that bad, she says.

Don't be exaggerating, she says.

Well the place is bad, and I'm not exaggerating, mother.

One: There's trash everywhere. It's like people miss the garbage can on purpose.

Two: This place reeks of dead rodents and shit.

Three: I've gotten shoved from left to right without an apology. These people are rude as h-

"Watch it," some stranger growled as he bumped into me. He held a death grip to the handle of his briefcase as he hurriedly went from the ticket area to the left side of the metro.

I sighed loudly, clicking a few buttons for a ticket. After paying enough money for the month and waiting for the ticket to spit out of the machine, I inserted the ticket into another machine. It came out of the other way and the thin door that was blocking my walkway opened. I walked through and took my ticket that was sticking upwards.

This is too much for a ten-minute train ride.

And I have to do this again when I leave?

WI basically had to push myself through the doors as everyone else coerced their way in like a wave of wild animals. I managed to get a seat near the door, so I wouldn't have to tackle anyone else today. It was already bad enough that I actually had to touch them.

Who knows what kind of germs they hold? Disgusting.

I unzipped my duffel bag and got a hold of hand sanitizer and To-Go sanitizing wipes. Using the wipes first, I furiously rubbed my skin until the wipe went dry, then took two pumps of sanitizer and rubbed my hands together.

I exhaled, feeling satisfied and got comfortable on the semi-slippery bench.

Did I say I got comfortable? I meant I'm trying to get comfortable.

Someone sat next to me on the next stop, and they've been sniffling the whole time.

If you were ill, why did you come here? I thought angrily. Now you might get me sick with the bacteria you're spreading.

I winced as the man sneezed without covering his mouth, and tried to sneakily grab my To-Go wipes. But when I bent down, the train suddenly stopped, as if it was a car that stopped on an incoming red light. The sick man bumped into me by fault, and I immediately felt the vomit rise up my throat.

"Excuse me," he apologized. That was so vile, I couldn't get myself to say anything, so I nodded only slightly. He got up seconds later.

I'm not going to survive this month.
