Y/N POV
This time when I awoke I found myself in a small cell with a stone cot on one side and the iron bars that kept me locked there on another. Three walls of stone and one of metal bars. Getting up I moved to the bars and the metal door giving them a firm shake, sadly they were sturdy and would not budge so easily.
Y/N: Damn! Now what?
Soon a scrawny woman with cat ears and tail came to my cell door and offered a piece of bread and a jug of water. She wore the same metal shackles that I did and her garments were worse for ware. Reaching out for the food and drink I saw as she flinched and I stopped. This time when I moved I did so slowly as I spoke softly.
Y/N: thank you
I doubt she could understand me but she gave a small bow and walked away. So know I've seen the monsters that invaded earth with the humans, wyverns, and now beastkin. I don't know what's going on, but I do know my main goal is to escape. For now I need to meditate to collect my thoughts. I sat down with the food and drink, the bread was hard but edible and the water warm but clean.
What felt like only an hour had passed when a guard showed up and motioned me to step forward. I eyed him warily but for now I would gain nothing by antagonizing him so I did as I was told. Opening the cell door he pulled me out and shoved me in front of him and motioned me forward.
The dirt and stone hallway was dimly lit with torches but it did not take long for me to reach the end and when I did I was blinded by the sunlight and deafened by the noise of a large crowd. When my eyes udgusted I found myself in an arena style area. The ground here was littered with rusty, and broken weapons and the seats were full of humans and Demi-humans alike all cheering out for blood.
I studied the entire arena and it's sitting area until I spotted the part I was looking for. The viewing platform of the elites, and sure enough the jackass with the maroon and gold armor sat there. I was however relieved to see that Mochizuki was still alive as she stood beside the man but seeing her bruises filled me with rage. I walked over to a spear with a broken shaft and hefted it in my arm. The man was out of my range but only just as I took the spear and threw it. The crowd went silent as the spear thunked into the wood only a few feet from him.
With a wicked grin the man called forth another slave, it was one of the men that had shared the large cell with everyone else. The next thing I knew a sword pierced through the man's chest and he was tossed down into the sandy floor of the arena.
The message was clear... Disobey and they will kill the other captives.
I grimaced and took a step back lowering my head, I got the message. I could hear an announcer as he spoke getting the crowd hyped up before a gate way opposite of where I entered opened up showing another slave. This man stood roughly 5'10 and had the ears of a wolf. Seeing me he began to charge forward with killing intent.
So this is how it's going to be? Unsure of how many fights I would be forced to go through I decided that I would need to conserve as much energy as possible to last. I took my stance as I waited the charge and as the other slave neared and swung with his right claw I used my right hand to grab his wrist while sidestepping out of the way and used my left hand to break his arm at the elbow. The sickening pop told me I had succeeded shortly before the howl of pain.
Using the man's pain as a temporary stun I quickly moved behind him before snapping his neck. The crowd was silent for only a moment before they erupted into cheers. I paid them no mind as I kneeled down to the slave I had killed and closed his eyes.
Y/N: I'm sorry for this, may you rest forevermore in peace
I stood up and faced the man that condemned me to this fate. Rage and a promise burning in my eyes. A promise that I will one day kill him. I fought six more enemies before I was finally led back to my cell. The cat woman eventually came back with food and drink as she had before and I eventually came to learn her name was Tatian. For the following two weeks Tatian would teach me their language and help me with the injuries I gained fighting. For two weeks I fought every day multiple times. People or beasts it did not matter. Soon though my chance to leave would arrive in the form of an apostle.
