Falco
If Gabi's mood wasn't so sour, Falco might've laughed at her expense when the horse gnawed on her hair and she slipped on the puddle. Yet he couldn't, so they continue to work in the stable, no humor between them. It's not like they got much going for them, but for now, they have a place to stay and food to eat. Falco said they'll stay for a few days, but thinking towards the future, what will they do once they leave? Assuming Marley is going to counterattack later rather than sooner, they have little to no chance of surviving on their own for months. Meanwhile, the Braus family has taken them in out of their own kindness, wouldn't it be best to stay where they can at least eat and sleep in peace?
"We should stay here, keep our heads down and wait for help," Falco voices to Gabi. "The army of this country did severe damage in Marley. It's just a matter of time until the whole world's armies come to attack this island. Reiner and my brother will come to save us, for sure."
"But… Don't you hate Zeke for what he did. That traitor is so close, we could…""There is nothing the two of us can do." That, and the fact Gabi can't know Falco was responsible for helping Eren Jaeger. If she finds that out…
"And besides, what's your deal? Giving me a name like Mia. And why do I have to be the little sister?"
"It doesn't matter either way, does it?"
"Hey, you two, it's time for lunch."
Falco and Gabi look up to Kaya, the girl holding a basket. Hearing his stomach respond positively to food, he grins in excitement. "Ok!" Following Kaya, the warrior candidates join her outside the stables, leaning on a fence. She hands them each a sandwich and gives Gabi a towel for her wet hair.
"You guys sure got the hang of this pretty quickly," Kaya says after taking a bite of her sandwich. "And you both have quite some stamina."
Falco chuckles. "Thank you. But I've noticed something. Everyone that works here is quite young. You two, Kaya."
"Yeah, that's right. Most of the people here are orphans."
"Is that so?"
"Thanks to the queen's policy, children that have nowhere else to go receive significant aid. Here, those who lost their parents in the attack four years ago are gathered."
"You speak as if you've done nothing wrong to deserve it," Gabi says. Falco glances at her in worry, hoping she'll stop, but Gabi's sense of righteousness gets ahead of her again. "Are you forgetting all the countless atrocities that the people of this island committed upon the rest of the world? Now that all the eldians are aware of the sincs they carry, their path to eternal atonement has finally opened."
"What does that have to do with the children who lost their parents?"
"It's true. No matter how much they pretend to be good people, they can bever escape the gravity of their sins."
"Is that what they teach you over at Marley?"
"What are you saying?" Falco shouts at Gabi. "This girl is taking good care of us!"
"This is a universal historical truth, she needs to be told!"
"You're doing it again!"
