With that strange encounter in the park, I feel left with a choice that's much more pressuring than reassuring... I'm a pushover, I'll admit, so I might go to the diner. But do I really need this date after all the things that are going on, already? Well, maybe I'm just scared, he looked like a nice guy. I take a deep breath in and out. Maybe I should go. Just once, and if I like it, I'll go again. That's all.

Returning home, the scene kept playing and playing in the back of my mind. Why did he have such an interest in me? I don't think I'm that special. Not really special at all. So why me? I walk into my apartment and check the time. "1:30..." I still have a lot of time left. Maybe I should go get something nice with Lucy? I have a couple of bucks.

I knocked on her door. "Lucy?" I say. "Come in!" I walk inside. I scanned her room for a second. Bottles of alcohol all over the place, coming along with boxes of condoms and BDSM toys. I guess you could say I like bondage or handcuffs a bit, though I'm a virgin. The only thing I really like about Lucy's room is her LED lights. They're always on purple, unless she's having... you know what. And don't ask me how I know that.

"Whatcha want?" She asks in a playful tone. "Oh.. Um, well, I have this date tonight and I was wondering if we could go shopping for my outfit... you know?" Her eyes lit up, like she had just won the lottery. I swear I saw money symbols in her eyes. "You have a date? And you want ME to help you pick out your outfit??!??" "Mhm!" She squeals.

It felt as if we teleported to the mall. "So where ya wanna look first?? Forever 41, New Navy, Durlington, Blaire's?" She gives ideas. I giggle. "Um, what about, that one?" I point to a store that has a lot of pretty dresses for display. "Nice pick! Let's go!"

I look around the store to see if there is any dresses I feel that he would like. Judging by his clothes today, he looks a little casual. Nothing to fancy or shiny. I pick out this light blue and white tie dye long sleeve, a pair of jeans and light blue shoes.

"You look perfect!!! My bestie is so attractive!" She takes a picture of us. "Let's post this pic on Instabam!" She squeals at the photo. "Let me see! Let me see!" I whine. "Look, look!" She shows me the photo.

We do look somewhat decent

We do look somewhat decent. I think I look good too. For once. "Yeah, I like it! Post that and tag me!" I say. "Hehe! Okay!" She is clearly enjoying this. "Is that all? Want me to walk you to your date?" She asks. "Yeah! I think that'll be all." It's 4:15. So it's time to go.

"Taxi, taxi!" Lucy yells annoyingly. Lucy has a strange way of doing things. Like calling cabs or getting clothes. I don't find her ways annoying, but they aren't normal either. Eventually, we get a cab. It always works because of Lucy's good looks. She's so lucky!!!

As soon as we get there, Lucy looks at me sadly. "Can't I just be in another booth watching?" She asks. "No you can't!! That's so embarrassing!!" I respond.

"Why nottttt??!???"

"Because it's my date."

"But please?"

"No, we just spent the whole day together!"

We both laugh. "It just seems so saddening. We don't get to hang out like this all the time... I really would enjoy it if we had time to hang out more!!!" She looks at me depressingly. "Haha, I know. I miss us too. We'll do this more often Lucy, I swear!!" I hug her tightly. "Best friends forever?" She looks at me. "Best friends, for life!" We laugh.

"Okay, I guess I'll see you later, text me!!" She says waving goodbye. "Yeah, see you in the house!" I say, waving back. I check the time. 4:59. Right on time.

I take a deep breath and step into the diner, ready for anything going to be thrown at me in this date.
