Monkeys are hard to smuggle

Sophs woken by the smell of bacon floating up from the kitchen. She heads down stairs in a whirl wind of happiness and sits herself at the kitchen table.
'Morning Soph!' Ada says grinning at her 'sounded like you had a fun last night?' She wiggles her eyebrows.
Soph now sitting mae in her high chair ready to spoon feed her porridge 'god it was so good ada' she closes her eyes remembering jacks lips on hers before he left. 'Better than I'd ever expected. He's asked me out on a date next week too'
Ada quick to spin round from the cooker, eyes wide with excitement 'oh that's fantastic Soph! He seemed to really make you giggle from what I heard'
'And what else did you hear Ada?' Soph looking like a rabbit caught in head lights
Ada places her bacon sandwich on a plate and heads to sit opposite Soph, 'just giggling' she smirks before taking a bite.

Jacks sat in a recovery session with the squad 'relax into it jack' he fucking hated yoga or any stretching class, he could never balance or hold a pose, his concentration just was innit either.
'I'm fooking trying' he shouts back as he holds the elastic band around his foot pulling it towards him.
Phil pings his elastic towards jack 'he's all tight from last night ain't he cause it ain't from physically playing' he shots a wink at Walker, the pair always eager to wind him up.
'I bet your new lass could help you relax couldn't she jack' walker taking his turn so chip in
Jacks sit up from laying down 'can you two stop talking about her that way, she ain't like that'
A collective 'ooooooooo' coming from the rest of the squad.
He hated when the lads where like this, it never bothered him when it was just a one night stand but when it was someone he cared about he bites back and the lads knew it.
'So you actually scored in the end yesterday?' Phil still carrying on
'Recon it was more that once by the state of him' walker taking his turn
Stones was sat at the front of the group rolls over on to his front to face everyone else behind him 'pack it in you two, If jack spoke about your lasses like that you'd be livid' he rolls his eyes
'Sorry jack' they both said simultaneously as if they'd been told off by their dad
Jack pinging Phils elastic back to him but he sees it as sign to carry on 'so is she your lass then jack?'
He looked at stones for help but he was also equally invested into knowing what was going on. 'Yeah, no, well not officially' he pulls his head band out and runs his hands through his hair 'I guess where dating if you wanted to call it summat'
Stones now grinning at him 'so it went well then?'
More than well he thought, he'd never felt like this about a girl before. He thought he had, he thought he knew what love was but this was so different, easy and he could just be himself. He didn't have to act clever or into certain things, she was just interested in him for who he was as a person. He wasn't going to add fuel to the fire with the lads though 'yeah I guess it was alright' and shrugged his shoulders.
'She didn't fuck him' walker summarising jacks sentence.
'That's enough now you lot back into your positions and hold it for 10' the instructor shouts over them

Soph had taken mae to Chester zoo after breakfast. Just to get outside somewhere different was heavenly. She knew mae was still to young to understand or really be invested in anything but she enjoyed making little animal noises and trying to show her where to look. She always imagined doing things like this as a family though, but she was just as happy it being the two of them. 'Look mae monkeys, do you know what noise monkeys make?' Maes big blue eyes looking up at her 'go oooo oooo ahh ahh' then she laughed to herself how stupid she must look to other people but she just didn't care. She pulled her phone out of her pocket to send her mum a selfie with mae in front of the monkeys.

She hadn't spoken to Jack since last night so she was taken back he was the first to message.

She smiled he remembered that she told him about taking mae to the zoo. She stood there for a moment looking at mae, would it be weird to send him a selfie of them? Was there ever going to be a good time? Would he just be dismissive of her? Fuck it she thought, mae was apart of her and if there was any time to scare him off it might as well be now before she's in to deep. She cradled mae in her arm and managed to get a monkey on the background.

She put her phone back in her pocket and went to lay mae back in her pram to walk to the next section.

She quickly clicked back on the photo and zoomed in and started laughing out loud. No wonder that monkey was so still. She couldn't control the laughter she needed to sit down and catch her breath. As she wiped her tears away she read his second message, and her heart just felt full for his acknowledgment of mae.

Soph 💇🏻‍♀️ - if the shoe fits grealish 🐒🍆. And thank you, I'm sure if there wasn't such a age gap people would mistake us for twins!

Soph sat there rocking the pram back and forth, her face matching the large red 'please don't feed the monkeys' sign. He wasn't going to let her live it down was he.
