Kakucho's POV
Yawns can be heard as we were working at 3 am. Rindou was tasked to investigate the maid with turned out to be a former prostitute from Yomi-kai. It gave us a lead in finding the other executive of the enemy organization but at what cost?
Megumi almost died in the process.
A child!
Not to mention, we found out that their original plan was to win the child's trust and get information from her. The pie from the accident was only a bribe.
No records can be found that Megumi had an allergy, not to mention a life-threatening one. It's the first time anyone found out about it.
Aside from that, it's a good thing that the doctor here was experienced in this kind of situation. Aoi was also present at the right time, making it a lucky coincidence. She has always taken an Epipen with her since that one accident...
Y/n is also allergic to nuts, making her unable to breathe. That's why it's banned here at the penthouse up until today.
Everyone has been busy while Mikey, he never left Megumi until now. It's been three days and the doctor said she's recovering quickly.
A sudden kick on the door, startled us and gained our attention. Our boss who was stuck in his daughter's room for days showed up while holding a paper.
"Everyone leaves the room except for Kakucho" He said in a low tone as he approached me. The others immediately obeyed, leaving me with him all alone, though I know they're probably outside the door.
"What is it, Mikey?" I asked as he sat down in front of me.
"Is Y/n really dead?" He asked so suddenly, leaving me quite taken back. The very topic which we always try to avoid whenever he's around.
I stayed silent as I wasn't quite sure how to respond. Should I say the truth or continue to lie and let him think for the better?
"I see" He said as I was about to respond he cut me off.
I looked down as the heavy atmosphere inside the office continues to grow.
I think it's finally time for him to face the truth that she's gone but even if I want to tell him the whole truth, I couldn't find the strength to tell him that she was pregnant when she died.
