"Hi, I'm Hide and he-" Hide pointed to the black haired boy "Is interested in you, also his name's Kaneki and I'm Nagachika Hideyoshi call me Hide." He was practically burning with energy while he told me this.
On the other hand, Kaneki was blushing and covering his face with his palms.
"And why is that?" I asked, immersing myself into the conversation for once, while putting my bookmark onto the desired page then set it down to look at Hide, I stared expectantly at him.
"He uh... likes your book." Hide said this as he glanced back at Kaneki who was wildly waving at him to come back, I let out a surprised laugh and gathered my things.
"Wait what're you doing?" Hideyoshi asked me.
"Going to talk to your friend of course, not many people I know read Takatsuki." Tossing my book bag onto my shoulder I walked across the room with Hide trailing behind me to the window table.
Ah it's already 8:00... I'll leave in fifteen or twenty minutes I thought but first I would talk with these two.
I pulled a chair up and gestured for Hide to sit down, then turned to Kaneki.
"Hello I'm Cho Yanagi." I said
"What's your favorite Takatsuki novel, Kaneki-san." Asking curiously.
"Um p-probably Dear Kafka, their debut novel." Kaneki stuttered, playing with his hands and slightly blushing.
"Personally, The Black Goat's Egg is the most interesting. How they portray the relationship between the son and mother? Astounding, while the mother falls into depravity the son slowly realizes he's been pulled down with her." I embellished my monologue with hand motions and started smiling.
None of my friends would understand but it seems like he knows what I'm talking about... come to think of it Yosuke is my only friend.
"Exactly! The brutal descriptions and captivating storyline make me feel like rethinking every criminal who's ever been pulled into crimes by their family members." Kaneki finally cracked a shy smile at me, Hide typing away on his cellphone which reminded me.
"I hate to leave when we've just met but I have an appointment with an old friend." I said while stuffing my book into the bag.
"Here's my number if you ever want to talk." I handed him the light pink business card, and pushed my hair out of my eyes.
"Ah that's very kind of you Yanagi-San." He pocketed it in his endearing yet drab sweater.
"Not at all, I would just like to get to know you better." He looked shocked as I said this.
I checked my watch noting that Yosuke probably wasn't up yet.
"See ya!" Hide said, smiling and patting Kaneki on his shoulder then the pair sat down as I left.
That boy was interesting, smart and cute. Just the type of boy who a ghoul would prey on, I thought grimly.
The bell rang as I opened the door to leave but someone was entering as I skidded to a stop I saw that her hair was a bright purple, red cat-eyed glasses and a floral print dress.
"Excuse me." She said, breezing past me to the back of Anteiku with book in hand.
Anyways, I turned back around to the door and stepped out into the chilly air. It was quiet, almost too quiet. Most certainly too quiet for a Monday morning but maybe it's just my imagination I pushed the nervousness away and unlocked my bike from the rack and started cycling down a deserted road.
