♪ A single yellowing leaf is being swept along the serene breeze, a speck of gold across the bleak sky. It journeyed through the route of the usual east wind, soaring above food stalls, above Silversprings Park and finally landed in the auburn hair of Anna. Unbeknownst to the fact that she had a leaf tangled in her elegantly curled hair, she continued chattering with her counterpart, partner and the love of her life, Daniel.
The two of them didn't need a purpose, being in each other's arms was all they would ever require. Anna gazed at Daniel, lost in the pools of his dark eyes. Nothing else mattered to her, not when he was sitting next to her on their bench of choice.
Daniel's keen eyes spotted the leaf in her hair and plucked it out thoroughly amused. Maybe it was hard for him to imagine a mistake in Anna's seemingly perfect appearance.
Nonetheless, he smiled warmly at her, warm enough to melt any irrelevant thoughts Anna was having. He slid his hand into hers, causing Anna's alluring face to flush. Most people would think no one was handsome enough for her, but she believed she had found someone good enough for her. She thought about how she had ended up where she was right now, under the autumn trees and in a position of life where she truly felt loved. ♪
˗ ˏ ˋ He ran his thumb along the back of her hand, gently, as if she was the most precious thing in the world. He made her feel safe, and she made him feel happy. It felt as if they were made for one another.
She admired his face. His deep brown eyes, his perfect locks of brunette hair and the endearing smile on his lips that made the butterflies in her stomach grow restless. Every time he looked at her, it reminded her of the day they met.
January third, Wednesday afternoon. She remembered the sunny day, the clouds were floating up in the tranquil sky and the trees were dancing slightly to the music of the benign wind. She remembered sitting on the warm grass of her school back yard, the warm grass of Silversprings High. She remembered having her arm rub the other as she observed a perfectly normal patch of grass, and the sudden voice that pulled her out of her restful trance.
"Hi?" He had said.
She recalled turning her gaze to her front, only to spot a tall boy plainly looking down at her. He had his eyebrows raised as if he didn't expect to see anyone there at that moment, and neither did she.
"Hello." She had replied in her soft, low, murmuring voice.
He had sat down next to her, his legs crossed as he continuously ran his hand through his hair. The two had sat in silence staring at the same pasture in their school back yard not saying a word to one another until he had stroke up a conversation.
"Do you come here often?" He had asked her.
"Yeah, sometimes." She spoke lightly and looked at him.
It only took one glance. Only one look into his eyes.
It was that one short conversation that proved the start of something that the two of them would cherish forever. It was the start of a beautiful bond that they knew could never be broken, and they fell in love.
Since that day the two of them met every week, the same time every Wednesday afternoon, with the same ecstasy to feel each other's presence. They had remained friends for the first month, until Daniel had held her hand, and told her she meant more to him than just a simple 'friend.'
Everyday the two of them went on long walks, everyday they held hands and giggled alongside one another, and everyday they found a reason to feel happy.
Daniel and Anna. It was a forever sort of thing. At times Anna felt as if all this meant more to her than it meant to him. Until her two friends, Michelle and Franny used to gush over the way he looked into her eyes. The way Daniel's face used to light up every time she was around. And it still did.
He was all that mattered to her. He was the sole reason why she smiled everyday, she had no other reason to be happy but him. Anna had grown up in a firm household. Her mother nor her father had ever had a proper conversation with her, or showed any affection to her love starved soul.
Every girl wanted to be like Anna. She was pretty, she was kind, she had rich parents and most of all she had Daniel. Though if you had asked her a year ago, she'd want to be anyone else but herself, until she met Daniel.
It was often that she used to get lost in the pool of her warm thoughts. It gave her comfort, he gave her comfort. His hand squeezed hers and she rested her head on his shoulder.
Daniel felt her soft hair touch his neck, he smiled and kissed the top of her head feeling the collective snug strands on her head. He rested his lips on her head and smelled the captivating scent of her maple shampoo.
Though the moment was short-lived. The two of them jumped up in an instant as they heard someone yelling across the school walkway in front of them. The couple had been sitting peacefully on their school bench under the yellow autumn tree just along the small pathway made for students to walk on, leading to the school building.
A girl ran past them in a fleeting moment and came to a halt in the midst her large group of friends. It was Sydney. Sydney Campbell. She was one of Daniel's close friends alongside the other companions. Anna always thought her to be too loud and yet too outgoing. But of course what would her quiet soul know?
Daniel was quite popular around school and it was something that made Anna conscious, but she didn't mind the attention all of his friends gave her.
Sydney was standing a few benches away in a circle of all of her friends, yelling, or rather speaking in her usual deafening manner.
Either way, Anna couldn't care any less.
She was with the person she loved most. ˎˊ ˗
