Honey was overjoyed; she was now officially done working for the day. It was still pretty early too, which only helped sweeten the deal.

Her eight hour shift had been long: longer than usual it seemed. However, knowing it was a short day kept her energized the entire time. Even better, it was payday. After three weeks, she'd gotten her first check and man was it a lot of money.

After divvying it up, she'd still have a good amount leftover for things she wanted. Not needed, but wanted. It's been years since Honey could get things she wanted for herself. Not that she was complaining, but it was just nice.

Being off at five, hours before the sunset, was also nice. It was a first since she began working when she was fourteen. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she had such an opportunity. This new job was truly amazing for her.

Slipping from the crowded building, Honey happily moseyed her way into the crowd of moving pedestrians. After her day, she headed straight home to freshen up before meeting up with Mia and Leona who also lived in the girl's home.

Mia and Leona are new friends she'd made recently. Well, technically they weren't friends yet since they'd only had like two conversations, but Honey was hopeful.

She, Mia, and Leona were all going to get together so they could give Honey a good tour of the town she was living in. During the tour, they would stop at a few shops to pick up necessities and anything else they wanted. They'd also stop by a place for Honey to send money back to her grandma and sister.

Since it was still pretty early, they had ample time to get everything done. That also means they don't have to worry much about being harassed or in more danger than normal.

Just up ahead, the large brick building stood proudly. Like a happy penguin, Honey waddled inside greeting Delores with a vibrant smile. The familiar building brought comfort and satisfaction to her.

After weeks of living in the girl's home, she had quickly become much more comfortable with the environment and the people. Everyone was nice and though everyone had a different personality, they made it work.

It was like a sisterhood in a way. Each young woman had a different background: they had different stories to tell. Some were pleasant, others not so much. Either way, it was always good to learn something new. They knew a wide range of skills and had brilliant ideas. It was always an experience when they got together as a group.

The home Delores created was a boiling pot of different cultures, educations, speech patterns, and so on. They were all very open, too. They helped out without wanting anything in return and without being asked. Some even went extra steps like Mia and Leona.

The first time the three met, it was well after midnight on a Tuesday. Honey had been working overtime and ended up closing the cafe. By the time she cleaned and put everything away, it was pitch black: so dark, she could barely see a foot in front of her.
