PAGKALABAS ko ng kwarto ay agad kong naramdaman ang tahimik na paligid. I knew that everyone is gathering for luther's announcement.
Even though I already knew luther's announcement I still want to hear it. Baka magbago pa ang isipan niya. Hopefully.
Maybe the luna in me wants to take the position, or maybe.. it's just the bond that luther and I both shared.
Pagkarating ko sa underground ay nagtago ako sa gilid. Narinig ko ang pagsalita ni luther.
"—This urgent gathering gave curiosity in you, but let me remind you that this is an important announcement." He said and he roamed his eyes around the pack.
Pinagmasdan niya ang mga kalahi.
"The luna you saw two weeks ago will be not your luna anymore." He coldy said.
I heard a gasp on every person. Nagbubulungan sila at nagtataka rin sa mga nangyayari.
"I will find a better luna." He emphasized and looked directly to my eyes. "For our better future."
Hindi ako umatras. I didn't let him show my weakness. Ayokong nakikita niyang nasasaktan ako.
I tried to hide what I really feel.
Nag-iwas ako ng tingin at umalis na doon.
Naglakad ako patungo sa garden. I sat on the bench and watch the fountain. It has a wolf figure.
What now, anoa? This is what you want right? You don't want to be a luna. Then, why are you sad right now? It supposed to be okay, right?
Napapikit ako at tinakpan ang mukha nang magsimula na akong humikbi.
I don't know where this inevitable agony comes from. I just feel that I need to burst this out.
Tahimik ang paligid na para bang binigyan ako ng pagkakataon na damhin ang sarili.
Nanigas ako sa kinauupan ng maramdaman ang presensya ni luther.
"Anoa." He called. Umupo siya sa tabi ko.
"I know this is hard for the both of us." Seryosong sabi niya. "But I need to do this.. for the sake of our kinds."
Hindi ako sumagot pero nakikinig ako sakanya.
"I hope you'll understand this."
Napabuntong hininga ako at tumango.
"Can I see my family?" Tanong ko.
"Not yet." He answered.
"Why? I'm not your luna anymore." Takang tanong ko at tinignan siya. But looking at him feels illegal.
Ngayon ko lang siya nakita sa malapitan. Nag-iwas ako ng tingin.
"For the record, you're still are." He said. "You'll stay here until I find a replacement for your position."
Napatango naman ako sa sinabi niya.
"The red moon will be on Saturday. You need to be ready. The goddess will break our bond."
"In that case— I will not train anymore?" Tanong ko.
"Yes." He said. "After all of this. Talk to your parents about accepting my offer to be part in this part."
Napatango agad ako. We are not a rogue anymore.
"Thank you." Sabi ko.
Being part of a pack means a lot to us.
