(Lupin x Jigen)

Lupin gasps, the cunning winter air going against his warm breath raising from his mouth, creating a misty fog over his head. He tugs Jigens sleeve with one hand and points upwards with his other.

"Look!" He says gleefully.
Jigen glances at Lupins cheerful face from under his fedora and then looks up. The fireworks echo in wind of the bustling festival with loud ka-booms, decorating the night time sky with florescent-like lighting.

"So cooooool!" Lupin says happily.

Jigens attention diverts away from the sky and towards Lupins side profile. How Lupins smile curled and his cheeks turn rosy in the excitement of what only a child would be as enthusiastic to see.

He couldn't help but stare: his boss—the worlds greatest more genius thief—can still act like a kid.

Though, he is not entirely convinced it's an act: Jigen is accustomed to fireworks and festivals, things where teens, families, and kids would gather. Lupin, as far as he know, is a mystery. He is aware of traditions of the such, yet reacts like he never has them in his life before. Jigen does not know what to make of it, but he's happy to see his best friend smile so gleefully.

"Jigen, come on!"

"Woah!"

Jigen feels his arm getting tugged through the crowd of couples and families. He uses his other hand to hold his hat while his eyes stay on the back of Lupins beanie and winter trench coat.
The two run out of the most festive place with tents of food, and into the dark surrounding forest. They narrowly dodged branches and tree roots perpetrating from the ground.

"Lupin," Jigen pants, "where are we going?"

"I don't know!" Lupin responds with a smile.

"Time to find out!"

They both run into a small hidden clearing nearing a cliff. The two look over to see a hill of people having picnics.

They follow the people's gaze up high into night sky, seeing the fireworks shooting high in the air before exploding into brilliant colors.

"Woah" Lupin mumbles speechlessly. A smile returns plastered on his face.

"Haaaaaaaaaagh, looks like we found a good spot!"
Lupin exclaims, his cheeks turning rosy against the bitter cold air.
He stares in awe of the beautifully decorated sky, his eyes shining in wonder. Yet the most captivated apple of Jigens eye was only Lupin. He shoves his hands in his trench coat pockets and awkwardly takes a side step closer to Lupin, who pays no mind of their usual closeness.

"Hey, Lupin?"

"Yeees?" Lupin looks over at Jigen.

"Is there... really nothing to steal here?"

Lupin chuckles at the silliness of the question.
"Well.. heh!"

Lupin makes a mischievous grin and winks while reaching into his trench coat.

"Well..?"
Jigen lifts a brow, his eyes nearly popping out from under his fedora to what Lupin could have possibly stole when they've been each other's sight all night.

Lupin snickers as he pulls out a leather black wallet.

"I did get your wallet!"

"Wha—hey!"

Jigen snatches the wallet swiftly, making Lupin laugh as the marksman checks if anything was taken before putting it away.

"Is that it?" Jigen grumbles in questioning.

"Doesn't hurt to do something simple once in a while," Lupin answers back, stuffing his hands into his pockets once more and looking up to the sky.

"We rarely have a chance to relax nowadays— always doing our own job or somebody else's.
I guess..."
Lupin hesitates, his eyes averting up at the sky as if he was nervous.

"I guess I just wanted to steal some time away from you is all."

Jigen stares at Lupin longingly, seeing the reflection of the fireworks in his eyes. He scoffs and looks away.

Heh, I don't get him.

He then takes out a pack of cigarettes and takes one out.

At one moment, he's all over that woman Fujiko— or really any woman for that matter.

He puts his pack away and starts patting his pockets for a lighter. Confused that it's not in its original spot, he keeps petting around at his other pockets.

One woman after another...

A feels a sudden heat of a flame near his cheek. He turns his head and and glances up at Lupin giving a snarky smile with a cigarette in his mouth. Jigen tilts his head up as the heat of the flame was starting to crawl under it.

"Are you trying to set my hat on fire?"

"It'd be brighter than any other firework, haha!"

"How crude."

The two lean in closely to one another, their noses closing in. Their cigarettes hover over the flame held in Lupins hand. The flame flickers in Jigens eyes as he stares, but when he brings his attention to Lupin, it turns out the flame in the thief's eyes was his gunman.

And the next moment...

Lupin swiftly closes the silver street-chrome lighter and leans even close to Jigen, causing Jigen to jerk his head in surprise. The fiery tips of their cigarette press against each other, bending Jigens cigarette and making a soft sizzle-like sound.

It's me he wants to be with.
Stuck to me like a leech.

Lupin snickers, backs his head away, and looks up to the colorful sky parading with exploding fluorescent lights. His cheeks turn pink as his smile turns from snarky to genuine as the midnight sky dances before him. Jigen can only stare then give himself a snarky smile as well, taking a puff and removing the cigarette from his mouth to let the smoke out.

But.... who am I to complain?

I enjoy this.

Jigen starts to laugh, making Lupin glance again and giggle back. The thief's lengthy arm swings across Jigens back and gets pulled into a tight side hug. Jigen does the same.

"What are you laughing at huh? Hahaha!"

If anything, I treasure this...

"I don't get you man!"

"Sorry Old Geezer, seems like you're just outta touch!"

They nearly start side wrestling while holding their cigarettes in their playful grins.

"Hey don't call me that! Look who's talking?"

... This... moment.

Geez, I'm quite a simple man, aren't I?

You're my classic old simple man, Daisuke Jigen.
