Part XVII: What doesn't kill you

A few other people in the building had come out to help before the police arrived and had tied up Y/N's dad incase he woke up.

Most of them worried over Y/N since she was badly hurt, but she only cared about Kaiden, who was still tight in her arms munching on Mrs. Garrett's cookies.

Their other neighbour, Mr. Peterson, had made them both hot chocolates. Y/N and Kaiden were lucky to have such sweet neighbours.

They were sweet when their mom died too. When they found out Mrs. Robinson let them both stay in her apartment for a few weeks, and Mr. Peterson would occasionally bring meals, and the other neighbours would just stop by to talk and comfort them.

Monty sat next to them, holding Y/N tightly. People would stare, but say nothing. When the police arrived they, however, did say something.

"Is... that the gator from Freddy's...?" One of the officers asked.

Y/N nodded, and the officer had turned to the other two officers who shared looks. "What's it doing here?"

Both Y/N and Monty stayed silent for a moment. "I sensed she was in danger so I came to help" Monty finally answered.

"How and why?"

"She's a staff member at the Pizza Plex, and she used her phone to send an SOS"

All three officers shared a look, but shrugged and walked off when everyone told them it was true. Her father was cuffed (while still unconscious) and carried down to the ambulance that waited downstairs, and a second ambulance was waiting for Y/N and Kaiden.

The medic tending to Y/N watched as the police officers headed down the elevator, then turning to Y/N and nodding her head. Y/N sighed and looked up at Monty, who seemed already prepared to argue.

Y/N put a hand over his mouth, instantly silencing whatever argument it was. "You have to go, we'll be fine"

His eyes softened and he reached up, gently grabbing Y/N's wrist and pulling it away from his mouth. "I'm not leaving you, Princess"

"You have to, they won't let you into the hospital and the staff at the Plex will notice you're gone"

"No, I won't leave you"

"You have to, I don't want you getting in trouble for getting involved in my issues. Go home"

"No!"

"I said go home!"

The tone in her voice made him stiffen. "F-fine. But as soon as your safe in coming back and in staying with you"

"I don't think Mr. Eddenborough would be too happy about that"

"I'll find a way"

And before Y/N could say anything else, he leaned over and kissed her, then turning around and heading down the stairwell.

The medic watched him walk off and gave Y/N a concerned look, but kept her mouth shut. She helped Y/N off of the floor, steadying her when she got dizzy, and took her down the elevator.

Y/N hated hospitals, and so did Kaiden, who was hugging her even tighter than before. At this point he was far beyond tried out of tears, but Y/N's shirt was still pretty soaked.

When the doctors asked her to lay in the bed, they had tried to pry Kaiden off of her but he refused with screams, so they left him alone. Y/N was glad he stayed, after everything that happened having him nearby gave her some comfort.

She had been there for a few hours now, and the sun had begun to peek out behind some of the city's buildings. All of the wounds were cleaned and bandaged, and a nurse told Y/N that once her father was cleared he would be placed in a small prison until his hearing.
