By the time Kaiden and Y/N arrived home, the sun was already half set. She could still smell the rain from this morning, which had well and truly faded now.

"How much money do you reckon the tooth fairy is gonna give me for this one?" Kaiden beamed.

Y/N chuckled. "A lot, that's for sure."

She sighed. It had been a big day, and she was sure tomorrow would be just as big. At least she got to spend more time with Monty...

'Wait, what?! Why am I so excited to see him again...?" Y/N felt her face grow warm.

She shook the wild thoughts out of her head. 'I need a shower...'

...

Y/N let the warm water ran down her neck, onto her back. She cupped her hands over her face, letting out a long groan. All she could think about was how excited she was to see that gator tomorrow.

The moment he caught her flashed in her mind, and she curled up into a ball in the floor of the shower. 'Why is my brain doing this??? What's happening??? He's a robot!!'

Y/N's warm PJs awaited on the sink counter. Being winter, they were lovely and thick and oversized. Just the way she liked it. She slipped into her clothes, but left her hair slightly wet.

"Alright, who's hungry?" Y/N clapped her hands together as she came out of the bathroom, eyeing her little brother.

Kaiden lit up at the sound of that. Suddenly, the phone rang. Y/N and Kaiden exchanged glances. Dread sank over the room. They already knew what this was about.

Y/N walked over to the phone on the kitchen counter, picking it up with shaking hands. "Hey, dad"

"Hello sweetheart. How have you been doing? Is Kaiden behaving?" Their dad's exhausted voice coming through the speaker.

Y/N looked at her brother, shaking her head at him. He looked down at the table. "We've both been doing fine. I took Kaiden to the Pizza Plex today, and he lost a tooth today. We're going back again tomorrow..."

Y/N didn't feel like telling him how Kaiden post his tooth.

Their dad laughed. "That's great. Uhm... you allready know why I'm calling, don't you...?"

Y/N felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. "Yes, I do..."

"I'm so sorry Princess. I know I promised I'd be home for your birthday in a few days, but the blizzard has just powered through the airport and there's another wave on the way. I won't be able to get home for at least a month..." Their dad's voice was breaking, trying to keep his tears back.

Y/N could already feel hers rolling down her cheeks. "It's ok, it's not your fault. Just promise you'll stay safe, ok?"

Their father sighed. "I will my sweethearts. Make sure you tell Kaiden I love him everyday,
Ok? I love you."

"I love you too, dad..."

Beep

"How long?" Kaiden mumbled.

"A month. At least."

Y/N gave up trying to hold her tears back, instead letting them flood down her cheeks. She could hear Kaiden start to sniffle as well. Wordlessly, she pulled out a pan and grabbed some pork from the fridge.

...

Y/N woke up to fresh snow coating her windowsill. Lucky she had closed it last night. She checked the time. 6:30. This is the first time she ever had proper sleep.
