*****************

When I arrived at Miles' place and I opened the door, darkness hit me. I couldn't understand where Miles might be at dinner time; probably he had gone to visit Pauline after picking Haylee up from the nursery school and stayed at her place but there was also the chance that he was having dinner with that Mike-the-single-parent who's daughter was attending the same school of Haylee. -Don't even start, Alex- I told myself and then, I decided to take a shower as I hated hanging around wearing the same clothes I had on the plane. When I was done, I chose something nice to wear and I headed to the kitchen to grab something to eat, waiting for Miles and Haylee to come home. Pauline usually went to bed pretty early so I would not have to wait too much before seeing them. I unlocked my phone to check Miles' IG and I realised that I hadn't turned it on after the landing and, as soon as the phone got back on, I noticed that there was a vocal message from Miles.

-Hi babe, I am on my way to London to meet with Constance. I tried to call but your phone is dead or turned off, I don't know... anyway... Constance called me and she convinced me to reach her which I know it's crazy and, honestly, right now, I am already repenting for not having thought about it twice but... well, I think I won't ever have any other chance to see her so... I am already on the train. Someone is coming to pick me up at the station and... wow, it's gonna be mega sleeping at the Shard and I still can't believe I am going to attend such a party! Luckily when I tried the tuxedo on, it still fit perfectly but... I am not sure to remember how to do such things anymore but... well, I am dating a celebrity so probably I am gonna go through it unharmed. Anyway, call me immediately when you're done with your performance 'cause no matter who I am talking to, or which delicacy I am eating... I will answer you. I love you, babe. Smash it tonight. Love ya."

-On a train to London to attend a party? This cannot be possible- I said aloud while pacing back towards the living room. I was highly -strung and I launched the phone on the couch, letting a nervous chuckle fill the silence of the house. -Moron!-I shouted while I retrieved the phone to call Miles' number, but a message informed me that the phone might be turned off or, more likely, there was no service wherever he was. Checking the time on my phone, Miles was still probably still on the train and the absurd situation was getting me more and more frustrated. -How many fucking chances there were to make Miles a surprise and not finding him home? None, Turner. None. You're such a fucking loser- I said, rising the tone of my voice even more. I began to pace back and forth in the living room, one hand on my hip and the other holding the phone, pressing recall and waiting to talk to Miles. It took almost fifteen minutes before he picked up and my tone didn't hide the fact that I was extremely pissed off.

"Finally! Why the fuck it took so much to pick up?" I shouted.

"Alex... what... Is everything fine with you?" Miles sounded worried for the way I had spoken but I pretended not to notice it; I needed to vent out my frustration and anger and being politely was something I couldn't do right now.

"No, nothing is fine with me now. And you know why? Do you wanna know where the fuck I am, Miles? I am in the fucking living room of your fucking house in Liverpool and guess what? You're not here. Because you got on a fucking train to London to meet up with Constance for a party. Sorry if I sound a little irritated but well, I am. Honestly, I am more than irritated, Miles."

"What-what are you doing in Liverpool I mean you... you can't be at home, Alex! What's happened to the charity event you had to attend?" Miles asked, clearly not paying too much attention to my reaction because he was trying to keep the conversation calm despite the worry in his tone but, obviously, I decided to ignore it.
