Summary:
Alex and Miles are enjoying the last weeks of their staying in Miami when a call by the real estate agency forces them to go back to LA earlier than planned and Miles' departure doesn't look like a future event anymore

Miami, October 2025

Despite Miami was blessed with warm temperatures in Autumn, our summer holidays were almost over and I felt bad at the idea of leaving Miami because living with Miles in an ordinary house like an ordinary couple with a daughter, made me feel overjoyed and fulfilled. However, I decided not to let sadness ruin the last weeks of paradise and I ordered myself to make the most of the time left, enjoying every single second of the days we were still allowed to spend together. Miles was comfortable being close to me and it made me feel pleased and satisfied when he randomly put kisses on the top of my head or hugged me with no particular reason except that he was happy to have me around. All those gestures and what I had read on his journal made me feel less pessimistic about my future with him despite he had already taken the decision to leave the USA and settle down for good in Liverpool. I did my best not to think too much about that and I focused only on the positive things that I was witnessing every day: the cheery smile, the contagious laugh and the silly jokes were back and he had asked me about my bandmates and our mutual friends, looking almost ready to get back in contact with the real world. I was also sure that a couple of tunes he was humming from time to time when he was cooking or showering, were songs he was working on; he hadn't showed me anything yet and I hadn't asked him anything because being patient had become the first rule to follow in every situation, and despite it wasn't something easy to do most of the times, I knew that one day, all my efforts and my frustration would be rewarded.

"So, did you manage to get a deal with the real estate agency?" I asked as soon as Miles closed the call.

"Yeah... they told me that they won't charge me the next six months if I leave the place within three weeks, the sooner, the better. They have already someone else interested to move in at the end of October but they want to visit the house first and I have to get rid of my stuff." It was an unexpected stroke of luck for him but he didn't look happy the way I thought he would be.

"It seems a good deal, isn't it?"

"Yes but it's gonna take time to empty the house and... I already know that it won't be something easy to do."

"You can count on me, Miles. We can go back to LA whenever you want and... you can stay at my place if you prefer. I am gonna help you to organise your move and choose the most important stuff that you want to bring personally with you in Liverpool. You can leave the rest of your stuff in my house and I am gonna make sure that everything will be shipped to you quickly so the place is gonna be empty a week before the end of the month."

"Alex... I can't ask you that! I mean... we were supposed to stay here a little more and... I think I have already abused of your time, patience and helpfulness."

"You can ask me whatever you want, Mi, and I will always be happy to help so let's check for someone to ship your stuff and let's buy the flight tickets to go back to LA."

"I knew it! I knew that you were desperately looking forward to going back to your Holliwoodesque house," Miles said with a laugh. "I was fucking sure that you were missing to pee in each of your four bathrooms!" Miles was mocking me and I found it adorable when he did that. How was I supposed to live without him?

"You're an idiot, Miles. I think I have not told you enough lately," I replied, pretending to be annoyed. "I am not enthusiastic to leave this house because it means that you're going to move back to the UK and the idea of being at home without you at seven minutes drive is really depressing. But I guess I am gonna be okay because I can come and visit you soon... if I am not mistaking, there's someone's second birthday in a short time!" I said lifting Haylee up in the air.
