"Kei..." he walked, his eyes filled with tears, his voice along with his body was trembling. Kei looked at his father's eyes sharply. "Don't you remember your father anymore?" Aragaki Haruma asked. Kei smirked and he furiously landed a punch on his face. "Of course I remember you! You are that stupid man who left my mother, and she died in depression! You're the worthless person who abandoned me and your own daughter! You think you have every right to call yourself a father after what you did, huh?! You proud of that 12 years you did for me and mom?!" Kei punched him again and kicked him, forcing him to land on his back on the cold ground. Mirai gasped in shock. "Son, please, I'm very sorry."
"DON'T F-ING DARE CALL ME SON!" Kei pulled him by the collar and punched him again.
"Stop that!" Mirai's supposed-to-be fiancé yelled. "No. It's okay..." Haruma wobbly stood up on his feet. "Punch me. Hit me and release all your anger towards me. I deserve it." He followed. "Good, you know that!" Kei was going to punch him again. "Kei, no!" Mirai squealed. "He's not worth it. Let's just get going." Mirai panted as if she got tired of watching. Kei threw Haruma on the ground. "It's not like I use Aragaki because I want to. It's a shame to carry that name. Don't ever show your damn face to me again." Kei spat.
They got in the taxi and so did the driver.
"Kei please, listen to me! Please, listen to me! Don't go! Kei, I'm begging you!" Haruma ran after the taxi but it scurried off. Those words... those were the very same words his wife cried when he was leaving but he ignored them and flew off. He looked at the taxi as it drove far away, crying like a baby. That shit you did, it hurts doesn't it?
Kei and Mirai arrived home.
"Tadaima! (We're home!)" Mirai said as she stepped in the house and removed her shoes. Satsuki ran to the doorway. She had an apron on and a huge smile on her face. "Okaeri! (Welcome home!)" she happily greeted. Kei's frown and frustration easily faded. "Tadaima." he forced a smile and patted Satsuki's head. "Let's cook." Kei said and they followed him to the kitchen.
They finished cooking and then they ate. Mirai and Satsuki exchanged glances while Kei remained silent.
"Nii-chan... is... is something wrong?" Satsuki asked, hesitating at first. Kei glanced at her but not merting her eyes. "Earlier, on our way home, the taxi we were rding on hit someone. I think it was a criminal. A guy took him in the car and it was the guy that proposed to Mirai. That guy was with someone... dad." Kei continued to eat. "D... dad?" Satsuki looked at him with sad eyes. "Yes. Our father." Kei repeated himself. Satsuki hung her head and looked down the floor. "He's not... gonna come back to us, is he?" Satsuki's voice was shaking. "I don't know. I didn't bother to listen to him." Kei stiffly said. Satsuki's hands formed into knuckles and she squeezed her skirt. "Gomen. (Sorry.) I lost the appetite to eat." she stood up, her head still lowered down, and she ran upstairs. She opened her door and the moment she got in her room, she closed and locked it. She walked towards her mirror and she looked at herself.
No one knows how happy she is when Taishi tells her she's beautiful...
Kei and Satsuki never talked about their parents. The first and last time she heard about her father was 4 years ago and since then, Satsuki hated herself. She somehow feels like a reminder to Kei of how this family broke apart. If she never existed, their father wouldn't have left. Their mother couldn't have been depressed and she wouldn't commit suicide. Kei would be with his parents and he didn't need to worry about a horrible background. The problems that time couldn't have existed.
But then, she came. To top everything worst, she even looked like her father.
She looked at her eyes on the mirror and tears fell from them. She bowed her head on the desk and she quietly cried.
To Taishi's eyes, she was such an important and beautiful person. Maybe that's why she loves Taishi so much. Because even just for a while, she didn't think that she was such a terrible existence.
Kei turned Satsuki's door knob but it was locked. He started to feel heavy inside. He never knew what Satsuki thought of their parents and also how she feels towards them. She only cried in his arms when he told her the entire story but she didn't say anything regarding it. Kei didn't want to ask her either. It seems like they both understood that the past is a taboo topic so they never talked about it.
He rested his back on the door and spoke.
"Satsuki... if you're crying, please stop. It's been hard on you, to grow up without parents to rely on. I'm very sorry if Kei let you down. I'm sorry if I couldn't do more for you. You know, I wanted to be able to guide and protect you by myself. I've always thought that I wanted to be your knight even without a white horse or a shining armor. It's like you helped and motivated me to become a better person so for bothnofnour sakes. Satsuki, you were never a burden to me. I will never think of you that way. You're a blessing to me. You're the greatest sister a brother could ever have. Please remember that no matter what. Now, if you want I can bring our father here. I ca--!" the door opened and Kei fell on his back on the floor. He slowly stood up on his feet and turned around to his sister. Satsuki's eyes and cheeks were still wet from crying and she hugged his brother. "You... are the greatest blessing and knight and brother a sister could ever have." she cried in happiness and relief.
