"Mirai... I miss him... I really, really do. I miss... his smile, his laugh, his voice, his eyes, his hands, his hair, his jokes, I miss him!" Mirei wept to her older sister.

Mirei grew up to an adventurous, daring, outgoing and music loving girl. She has a strong personality that makes her remarkable to anyone she meets. On the other hand, she doesn't easily fall for someone. She doesn't easily put her trust in anyone which makes her mysterious too. That side of her has attracted a lot of guys. One of them is Nobuo Takahiro, better known as Taka by... Well, everyone who knew him.
But not only that he liked her; as crazy as this would seem, she liked him back.

This guy was carefree and happy-go-lucky. He's also very pasionate in music too.

Their story went like this...

Mirei writes songs and sings them at gigs or events she gets invited to. One late night in spring after singing at a cafe as per usual, a guy walked to her and chatted her up. They talked for almost 3 hours and somehow, they clicked so much it almost felt like they were long lost bestfriends. They both love writing music and their personalities and outlook on things matched and blended well.

They both couldn't forget that night but they don't know if they will see each other again. They didn't have communication.

A few months after that, Mirei signed up for a summer band festival. She got her best buds to play the drums and bass for her, she's both the vocalist and guitarist. And there, they met again. They were so, so happy to see each other backstage and they started where they left off last time, talking like best of friends. Taka was a vocalist in one of the bands that are performing, of course Mirei knows that already.

They enjoyed the rest 14 hours of the day together. They even sang in the acoustic session with other band vocalists though it was unplanned.

To not waste the opportunity, they took each others' mobile numbers.

Summer came and they got to know each other more through mailing and calling.
Whenever Mirei doesn't feel like going to school or if she doesn't feel like going home yet, she'd call Taka and ask that they go out on a drive around a place and visit local shops to eat. They would go to gigs together and stay up late at night, writing songs together when something randomly pops in their heads. Mirei got to hang out with Taka's band too and they welcomed her in the group like a little sister.
Taka and Mirei got closer. Soon,

A spark ignited.

On Autumn, they spent more and more time together. The things that Mirei never told anyone - except her sister -, the secrets that she's long hidden, the side of her that she wouldn't naturally reveal, she exposed all of those to Taka. Taka also trusted her with his past, which wasn't very nice so he refused to tell anyone it. Their trust broke the wall left between them until there's almost no gap left. Taka loved how she stayed mysterious even though she told all of those things to him. This attracted him more and more to her. Mirei loved how Taka went with the flow she started.

That spark grew and grew until it exploded like fireworks. They were officially in a relationship.

On winter, they finally decided to form a band including Taka's band members. It was called 4 Seasons. Their relationship lasted. You can call it almost perfect for they rarely fight and disagree. At times that those things happen, they just laugh it off and apologize right away since it's most probably just about food or what word to use in the song they're writing. They treasured each other and all the memories they shared. They may lose sleep, get home really tired but over all of that, they enjoy each others' company. They were not just baes, they were homies.

They lasted for 3 years... until that day...

Their band got pretty revved up, invitations to play here and there and so they got busier and busier each day. But this is the time where Mirei's parents got in the way.
They wouldn't let her continue being in the band, they wanted her to focus more in her studies and help with the company their family built. Knowing Mirei, the badass wouldn't listen to them. She didn't even tell her boyfriend that they pectured her about this.

So Mirei's parents manipulated the other badass instead, Taka. They lied and told him that Mirei has cancer, told the poor boyfriend that she'd die sooner than expected if they don't stop late night gigs and all. Taka cried when he learnt about this. The worst part? The parents asked him to make up a lie and break up with her so that Mirei herself would not risk her life...

"I... I'm falling for someone else, Mirei. I'm sorry but... I think... I think this is where we say goodbye... I hope you understand. I know this hurts you but I just... Isn't it better this way? Rather than going around in circles... let's just break up." Taka paused in his sentences, not wanting to say them, not wanting things to end up too fast, not wanting to hurt Mirei. She was shaking all over, like she's gonna break down anytime soon. He couldn't watch her, look at her in the eyes. He was getting hurt all the same or who knows, maybe he's hurting more. What is he doing...

"I understand, Taka. It's okay... Thank you for being honest... Actually, thanks for everything you've done for me... I love you." she failed to force a smile then slowly turned her back at him to walk away, her tears in the verge of falling.
"Matte! (Wait!)" Taka stopped her on her tracks and he ran to Mirei. He put his arms across her chest and his hands on her shoulders, he rested his chin on top of her head. They stayed like that for a few seconds, but to Mirei, it felt long. His embrace, his warmth... for the first and last time, it pierced her heart.

"Thank you" he murmured. Both of their tears fell and streamed down when he let go and Mirei walked away.

Taka continued the band they started with only him as the vocalist. Taka changed his number so Mirei never got to communicate with him again, and though he has her old number, he didn't try to communicate with her too. It shocked the members when Taka told them she has cancer. They felt bad to let go of her in the band... But they felt terrible for Taka who had to let go of her... Forever.

Not very long after Mirei and Taka's devastating break up, Mirai learnt the truth behind it and she told Mirei. You could just imagine the anger...

Mirai took Mirei to her room then she zipped open her luggage, taking her phone out and plugged the earphones in it, then handed it to Mirei as she scrolled and tapped on it. Mirai put the earphone on her sister's ear.

"A year ago, their band got popular. I'm sure you know that but you just... ignore it... well, this year, they started their worldwide tours... Here, please, listen to it." Mirai played a song.

As she listened, tears fell from Mirei's eyes...
