After my meeting with the financial board, I enter my office. I'm more than ready to leave for the day. I stop when I see Taehyung at my desk. He scribbles something down on a sticky note and holds it up to me. "You've got a lunch meeting with the CEO of YG tomorrow." I blink at him. "What? Why do I need to meet with him?" Taehyung shrugs. "I don't ask a CEO questions," he chuckles.
"It's at noon, wear something nice. This guy is a big deal." I nod to his words. I'll have to browse my clothing to get the perfect outfit. "Let's go home Tae." I tell him and he nods. We leave my office and head home.
The next morning I'm not sure what to wear. I settle on a silk white button up shirt that is lined with black lace. Matched with it, I chose a pin-stripped pencil skirt and my tallest stilettos. I dreaded how much my feet would ache after wearing these all days. But they made me look and feel incredible.
I get dressed, adding some dangling earrings. I pull my hair up in a loose ponytail and then leave my room. Taehyung cheers as soon as my feet step out of my room. "You look amazing!" I giggle modestly and roll my eyes. "Shut up," I joke with him, and he smiles. "But really, you do."
Grabbing my purse and keys, Taehyung stops me. "I'll drive you there." I look at him suspiciously. "I can drive myself Tae," I try to negotiate with him, but he isn't having it. He wags his finger at me violently, "You didn't let me go last time, I'm going this time!" I sigh, giving in. "Okay."
We leave our apartment and go down into the garage to get into his car. Once we're driving to the restaurant, Taehyung looks over at me and looks scared. I furrow my eyebrows, "What's wrong Tae?" I ask him curiously; he looks like he's about to be ill.
"Don't be mad." I feel my blood turn cold, oh no. What did he do? "This isn't a meeting with the YG CEO. This is a date with that Jimin guy. I called him yesterday and set it up." My mouth falls open at the betrayal. "WHAT?!" I scream at him, fighting the urge to grab the steering wheel and force us to stop.
"You tricked me?! Tae, what the hell?!" I was yelling at him, and he was sinking in the car seat, little by little. "I'm sorry, you'll have to forgive me sometime. I saw how you reacted to him and how you never react to any other guy like that. I can't let you give up this chance. I've watched you so many times avoid relationships because of..." I cut him off. "Don't say it. Stop the car right now!" I demand, giving him the angriest look I can muster. He shakes his head.
Taehyung ignores all of my commands, demands and pleading. The car ride is painfully quiet as I'm forced into a situation I desperately wanted to avoid. Once he parks at the restaurant, Tae sighs and runs his hand through his hair. "You'll forgive me eventually. But for now, enjoy yourself. Open your heart Luna, stop being afraid. Stop pushing people away." I ignore his words best I can.
He unlocks the doors and lets me out. Once I crawl out of his car, I just stand there. Taehyung pulls away and mouths the words 'I'm sorry' to me. I don't know if I can ever forgive him. This was the biggest betrayal. He knows how I am. Taehyung knew I didn't like to get attached. When I get attached I just end up hurt.
I cross my arms and look around, not sure what to do. I consider walking home but in these heels that would destroy my feet. I hear a sweet voice call my name. "Luna." I turn around and see Jimin, giving me the sweetest smile. It almost melts my anger.
"I didn't agree to this," are the first words I say to him, and my heart instantly regrets it when his face turns sad. "You didn't? Your assistant said this was your idea." I fold my arms tighter, not liking the situation I've been put in. "Taehyung deceived me. He told me I was meeting with the CEO of YG." Jimin's eyes fall to the pavement, and I feel my heart ache. I disappointed him.
"I see..." He says softly and it shatters my heart. Sure, I was furious at Taehyung for doing this, but it also hurt Jimin. He was probably excited that I finally accepted his offer. Only to find out that it was deception. I'm going to kill Tae.
"I can take you home." His words pierce my heart, and I don't know what I should do. I could go home, that's what I really wanted to do. But it's the sadness in his eyes that's making this decision difficult. Someone as beautiful as him should never feel sadness. It didn't suit him. I liked his smile better.
I drop my arms to my side, "I'm already here. I guess it won't hurt to proceed." I try not to sound as upset as I feel. I knew this was a huge mistake. But I couldn't take him looking depressed for some reason. It was heartbreaking. Jimin smiles a tiny fraction. "Are you sure? I don't want to force you into something."
Nodding, I sealed my fate. I was doing this for him, not for me. I wanted to see that smile of his again. And there it was, suddenly Jimin's face lights up and my heart is lifted off the ground.
