"nanami san!! wake up!" ten year old tsumiki shook the blonde businessman restlessly while her voice shrieked through the roof of the apartment.
gojo had been requested for a special mission overseas, so here nanami was, standing in for a week to look after the little ones – keiko was dropped off at the fushiguros' place to stay for the week.
since their apartment had just enough bedrooms for the three kids, nanami had no issue taking the small two seater couch in the living room; he had gotten into the habit of sleeping while sitting up with a towel over his eyes anyway.
"nanami san!!" this time the white fabric over his face had been shaken off, for him to open his eyes in a frown to a panicked tsumiki.
while readjusting the blue button-up shirt that had been tugged on by the young brunette, nanami leaned forward so he could hold her still. "tsumiki ... it's four in the morning, what's going on?"
"megumi and keiko ... they're gone!"
the blonde man's thin eyebrows lifted slightly, the bag under his eyes still drooping with fatigue. after realising the severity in the girl's words and seeing the frenzy in her eyes, nanami shot up from the couch and darted towards both empty bedrooms, turning away immediately to check the mahogany shoe rack by the hinge of the front door. he took quick notice of the two missing pairs of shoes.
tsumiki trailed after him like lost sheep, before she stopped as her lips began to tremble. "i'm s-sorry nanami san ... i didn't watch them properly."
the older man pinched the bridge of his nose, heaving a ragged sigh before turning to face tsumiki again. he placed his hand gently on her dishevelled brunette head, ruffling it up a little.
"it wasn't your fault, tsumiki. go grab a coat, we'll go look for them." he had thought about heading out on his own but leaving this anxious girl alone at home didn't strike to him as a wise choice to make.
meanwhile, a certain young redhead and raven were huffing their way up a steep cliff; for adults it would've been a brisk stroll up.
"c'mon megumi! we're almost at the top!" keiko waved for the raven to pick up the pace since her overly excited mood gave her more energy to head up.
"what are we even doing here? we should head back, nanami san would get mad if he found out that we snuck out!" megumi grumbled, dusting off the speck of dirt that keiko had accidentally kicked onto his face.
"i didn't drag you along, mind you! i wanted to go see the sakura petals at sunrise on my own and you chose to follow me!" keiko retorted, reaching both hands out for the raven to grab onto as she pulled him up with all the strength she could muster.
"that's because it's dangerous for you to be out here alone!"
keiko decided she wasn't going to pay attention to his 'mindless' criticisms anymore, simply turning away while her hand gripped onto his so she could drag him with her. soon enough the pair had reached the peak of the cliff, gawking in wonder at the view overlooking the town, with the sun inching its way up from beyond the horizon.
megumi's attention was soon taken away after his sharp eyes had caught sight of a light going on and off in the direction of their apartment, which was probably a good stone's throw away from where they stood.
nanami's coming ... whatever happens i'm just gonna blame it on keiko.
a jerk on his arm had sent him tumbling to the ground and he ended up plopped by keiko's side, with a huge cherry blossom tree behind them. before he could fire another one of his agitated comebacks at her, his eyes traced along her stretched arm, trailing off to her pointed finger towards the skyline.
