Despite my efforts to keep my migraine at bay it doesn't seem to work and the pain in my head quickly takes over my entire face. All I want o do is pass out in the comfort of my own bed, and the second I muster enough energy to move that incessant knocking is back tapping away on the other side of my front door. Letting out an exasperated sigh I once again shuffle over and twist the door nob. "Doc I swear if this is you again I will knock you the fuck out".

As I pull my door out of my line of vision my words are instantly caught in my throat. I immediately come face to face with my boss Charlie and two of my work collogues Laura an Kris. I cant believe I just spoke that way to my boss, granted I didn't know it was him but he still didn't look very impressed with my choice of words. I also cant believe that they brought him here, the only reason they know where I live is because they helped me move, and what now they think they can just bring anyone over after i specifically asked them never to do that. You really cant trust anyone can you. Before I have chance to fully process their arrival Charlie is making his way inside my flat closely followed nervously by the girls. Damn right they should be nervous since they know I wont be this calm once Charlie has left. They betrayed my trust and they should know for certain that they will be hearing about it. Once this is over with I'm going to have to figure out why everyone thinks they can just invite themselves over.

Once composed I turn to see the girls have taken a seat comfortably on my couch and Charlie is standing behind them with his arms folded across his chest, doing his best to stare me down, with his less than intimidating 5'3 stature. "What are you three doing here?". Taking in my tone Charlie tightens his arms across his chest as he takes a quick glance around my flat before looking back at me with disappointment. Ok is there really any need for the judgement? He's the one that came over here uninvited so excuse me if all my underwear isn't tucked neatly away. "Frankie you called in to work a week ago saying you couldn't come in due to personal issues". Ok so I had a few days longer than I originally anticipated. What's the big deal? "Ok. And?". "And I let it slide, I didn't even badger you for an explanation. But its been ten days Frankie". "Ok well sorry but I'm going to need a few more days". Its clear that's not the response he expected as his arms drop to his sides. "Ok sure... why?". "Excuse me?". "I'm going to need a reason this time Frankie". He cant be serious. This is private. "I don't have to give you a reason". "Actually you do". "Well I never have before". "That's because I never asked for one. I respect you all enough to hope that when you ask for time off its for a legitimate reason and you wont take advantage of my trust but that's obviously not the case here". I can feel myself getting more frustrated by the second, and if I keep letting myself boil like this I'm going to explode and nobody here wants that. Instead of allowing that to happen I close my eyes, take a breath and do my best to calm myself down. I have to remain calm, since I don't want to risk loosing my job. As I open my eyes I can still feel Charlies eyes burning a hole in the side of my face. I know he's waiting for an explanation, and he wont leave until he gets one, I guess that means I'm going to have to do this. "Ok. It was the anniversary of my best friends death". Immediately as the words leave my lips Kris scoffs and stands to confront me. Her attitude suggests that I may have pissed her off but I honestly have no idea what I could have done, so this should be interesting. "You do remember that Sarah was our friend too right?". Laura flicks her hair over her shoulder as apparently she now has the confidence to stand by her friend. It appears that they are now teaming up. They are both wearing smirks that suggest they have the high ground, It's almost as if they think they have a valid point. But honestly they don't and all I want to do is laugh I their faces. "Yea and we didn't get over a week off". Fuck they are really milking this time off thing. If they want time off all they have to do is request it. Before I have chance to get a final word in Charlie makes his way back over to the door. Instead of just leaving and taking his flying monkeys with him he turns back to look at me with a look of concern washing over his face. "I'm going to leave these to with you and see if they can convince you to come in, and maybe, just maybe i will let you keep your job". I don't see any point in arguing with him since there is no chance that these girls are going to convince me to come in. I've decided I'm not and there's no changing my mind. Instead I let my boss leave, now its just myself, Kris, Laura, and the silence.
