chapter 2

When I got home, I saw Eda sitting on the couch drinking her apple blood. "Why are you home so late?" She asked me. "I was late to class again," I admitted. "You need to get better at keeping track of time."

Wow. I'm surprised Eda wasn't mad. I just walked up to my room to do my homework when my phone got a notification. It looked like Amity sent me a text. It said, "Don't forget to do my homework, round ears." I just grunted. She always gets on my nerves. I put my phone down and pulled out 2 pieces of paper. One was my homework sheet, and the other was an identical sheet, which was for Amity. I started working on mine first so I could just copy the answers to Amitys.

Time skip

After 2 long hours, I finally finished both papers. I put both down on my desk so I wouldn't lose them, and went out for a little walk. I grabbed a basket, and our little demon, King, and put him in the basket. I walked out the door. I didn't really know where I would go, I just wanted to escape for a little bit.

Amity's pov

Ugh, why am I like this? I hate that I'm so mean to Luz. She's really nice and pretty, I just can't help myself. I thought to myself. I sat in silence for a few minutes before my mom stormed through the door. She always pressures me to be perfect ALL the time, and it gets stressful. "Hello, mittens. Are you practicing those spells? I want you to get all those memorized," My mom asked. "Yes, I almost have them all done, there's just a few I can't seem to get. So if you could get out so I could work on them some more, I would love that," I replied. "Good," my mom said walking out.

I let out a little sigh after she left because I lied. I didn't do any practicing. I don't even know what spells she's talking about. I start looking around for some flashcards. If mom wants me to learn something, she usually does give me some to help.

The first place I started looking was this random drawer of junk. I started rummaging through it and found my report card from last semester before Luz came here. "F, F, another F, no wonder I was hiding this from my mom." I started looking again, and I found them. I took them out of the box and started looking through them. I didn't understand any of it, but I started to try to memorize them anyway.

Luz's pov

I started walking home from my walk. King was fast asleep in my basket. He was being really cute, so I let out a little giggle. The rest of the walk home was uneventful.

When I got home I opened the door and went up to my room. I went over to my desk to grab the 2 papers and put them away, but they weren't there. I started to freak out. I started to look all over my room for them, but I found nothing. I rushed downstairs to see if Eda knew where they went, but she was asleep. Typical.

I went back upstairs and threw myself on the bed, and started screaming into my pillow. What am I gonna do? Amity's gonna kill me. I thought to myself in a panic. I sat up and got off my bed. I started tearing my whole room apart just to find a stupid piece of paper. Nothing. This was it. My end. I just walked over to my bed and sat there. I lay down and started slowly drifting to sleep.
