chapter 6

Time skip

    As I was walking home, I already felt a little bit of guilt. I did do the right thing, right? They were being jerks, but I've also been friends with them for as long as I can remember, and I just ditched them for someone I've known for 2 days. UGHH this is all so confusing.

    I decided to ignore all of my thoughts and just get home as soon as possible. The walk home was pretty normal until I got to my front door. I was about to walk inside when my phone got a notification.

    It was a text from Luz. It said hi 🐱💗. My face started to get hot and I could tell I was blushing. I knew the heart was platonic but I liked to think it was more than that.

    The smile on my face was big, but the moment was quickly interrupted by my 2 annoying siblings, Edric and Emera. "Hey, what's up, Mittens?" "Ooooh, look at her face. She's blushingggg. You kinda look like a tomato," they teased. "You guys do realize you're not funny, right?" I said, shoving them aside and walking inside.

    I rushed up to my room and jumped on my bed. I got on my phone and texted Luz back. hey :] wassup?

    I put my phone down on my bed and pulled out my sketch book. No one really knows it, but I love drawing. I think I'm pretty good at it, too. So I grabbed a pencil from out of my bag and started drawing.

    I didn't know what I was drawing yet. It was almost like my hand had kind of its own. I lifted my pencil for a second to look at the sketch and I noticed that it looked familiar. I ended up accidentally drawing Luz. I started to blush before I was interrupted by Ed and Em again.

    "What are you drawing?" Em asked. I quickly hid my drawing under my blanket. That probably just brought more suspicion to me though.

    They both started walking towards my bed and when they got to me, Ed lifted up my hand, which was covering the sketch book under the blanket, and grabbed it.

     They both stared at the drawing in shock, and then at each other. "Is that," Ed started. "Luz?" Em said, finishing his sentence.

     My face was red again, but of embarrassment this time. "Maybe," I whispered under my breath.

     Emira was quick to realize the fact I had a crush on her, but was slow, as usual. Luckily, before he could put two and two together, Em kicked him out of my room. "Hey, Ed, could you get for a second," she told him. "Ughh, fine," he replied, annoyed.

     "Do you have a crush on Luz?" She asked straight up. "I don't even know. All my life, mom has expected me to be this perfect daughter. Meaning I have a crush on a guy. Not a girl. But I can't help it. She's just so nice, and pretty, and I've never felt this way with a boy before."

     "It's ok to not be into boys. I know Ed and I will except you, no matter what. But you might wanna not tell mom." I laughed a little.

     If I'm being honest, I've always liked Emira more than Edric. Don't get me wrong, Ed is always fun to be around, but Em always know how to make me feel better.

    "Now about Luz," she started. "Why don't you ask her out on date? You two could go to the new cafe that just opened down the street."

"A DATE?!?! There's no way I'M gonna be the one asking her out."

"Well, then I guess it's a good thing I texted her for you."

"WHAT?! EMIRA!!"

"Hey, it's ok. Even if she says yes, she won't think about it as a date. She'll just think you guys are hanging out as friends."

"But what if she doesn't? What if she already knows I like her? AAA!"

"Wow, chill out. You're overthinking it."

     All of a sudden, my phone got a notification. At first I didn't even want to look at it, but I did. Luz replied saying yea, that sounds really fun :] does tomorrow morning work? I smiled at my phone and started texting. yea, that's perfect. see u then :)
