──.◦*.:◦✧*.◦✰*.:◦✧*.◦:◦*.◦───Eve's break consisted of the same schedule every day until Christmas Eve and then continued after Christmas. Wake up, take a shower, get ready, eat breakfast and ask Darry if she could go hang out with Cherry, go to the rink, eat dinner with her and go back home to fall asleep and do the same thing the next day. It was near the end of her Winter Break which was near mid-January based on how the Holidays fell that year.
Where she landed herself at this very moment was sitting in the living amongst her brothers and friends watching Mickey as Two-Bit complained about his recent troubles. Some of the gang had either spent the night at the house or had come over bright and really.
"Darry?" Eve looked at him with the same eyes she did every time she wanted something
Everyone had shut up to watch the two siblings talk, "Yes?"
"Can I go out with Cherry today?" Darry's face looked troubled. Today was one of the only days he had off for his sibling's school break and the whole gang had agreed to go out and spend the day together. He sighed as he was conflicted.
Soda, noticing the troubled look that his older brother held, decided to speak up, We were gonna go out to lunch today with, Darry." Eve nodded, "Oh."
"How about, you go out to lunch with us and then you can head over to Cherry's?" Darry suggested. Eve looked up and a wide grin spread across her face, "Okay!"
She then ran up to go change her clothes and text Cherry about the minor schedule change. Meanwhile downstairs the whole gang shared looks with one another, "Evie's been spending a lot of time away from home hasn't she?"
Darry and his brothers nodded, "Yeah but it's good for. I want her to be able to spend time with her friends and not have to spend her break cooped up in the house with us." The gang let it go after Darry's explanation as they all waited for Eve to come back downstairs so they could go.
Evelynn came back downstairs wearing black jeans and a thin long sleeve shirt under her Dallas Stars shirt. Her hair was in two dutch braids and she sported a Stars baseball hat on her head. Her bag was slung across her shoulder as she tied her black converse on the stairs, "Alrighty! I'm reading to go."
Her friends nodded and they all headed out to go and find a little restaurant to have lunch at. Steve walked with Eve behind the group making small talk. He took a moment to look at her before speaking softly, "You look pretty today." Eve blushed at his words before letting out a thanks.
There was no doubt the two best friends had some sort of feelings for each other, everyone in the gang could see it even if they didn't want to. The two continued to walk, hands brushing each other every now and then. They reached the restaurant without any more words exchanged between one another.
The gang's lunch had been relatively short when Eve announced that she had to go and quickly got up and left the table without another word. The gang continued to talk amongst themselves except the conversation had changed from talking about random things to talking about Eve and her absence in the group recently.
"You don't think she's pulling away from us again, do you?" The group eyed each other before Darry lets out a grunt.
"No. I told you she was just hanging out with friends which is what she should be doing at this age. So what she doesn't want to spend every waking moment with us, we've been by her side for almost her whole life. Let the girl breathe a little."
Everyone shut up at the oldest member of the group. No one wanted to say anything in chance of angering him more. When Darry got angry, Darry got mad and everyone decided that was not something they wanted to see today.
Eve had not wanted to spend one more moment in the small diner they found. She was annoyed with the group's sudden urge to include her in everything they do which is not something they had done before. Ever since the day she came home from break they had changed. She had like the few moments she spent with them and didn't want that to change.
Eve had made it to Cherry's and knocked on the door. Cherry was quick to answer and she quickly said goodbye to her mom and they headed off towards the rink, "So what are we doing today?"
Cherry smirked, "I had an idea."

Cherry now stood in front of Eve in the middle of the rink, clad in hockey gear, "This is so stupid. You look like a walking mattress."
Cherry just giggled, "Come on! I'm good at hockey and I want to help strengthen your skills. You said it before, you were more a knowledge player than a skilled player." And that was true.
Eve knew everything there was to know about hockey. The exact rules, what the penalty would be for, and how long the players had to spend in the penalty box for a certain thing they did. If anybody had any hockey questions, they always turned to Eve. What was even scarier was that she was able to tell you anything you wanted to know about a certain team and even a certain player.
Eve and her father had been so devoted to hockey that they took the time to research all the teams and players. They studied hockey religiously. Eve was the only kid her father could get to like hockey and for that she was grateful. She loved being able to share this with only her father.
Eve nodded and sighed, "Alright. Let's get this over with."
The two then spent the next three hours running through drills that Eve knew the names of but just couldn't do. At least, that was before. Eve was now one of the best hockey players her friend had ever seen. They had sweated their asses off and voted to take a shower when the two made it to the Valances.
"Holy shit, Eve that was amazing!" Eve let out a bashful chuckle before taking off her jersey. She and her father had drawn a sketch of a jersey and Cherry surprised her with it for her birthday this past year.
"It wasn't that good, I mean compared to you! Where did you even learn to play hockey?"
"My mom's cousin was a hockey player and coach and taught me everything I knew. Something tells me you would like him."
"Let's get out of this shit and head to yours. My muscles are going to be so sore tomorrow."
