I didn't get first place which kind of upset me, but I did get second next to Todoroki. I lost when it was me against Bakugou, his quirk was powerful and he didn't hold back.
My light quirk didn't do much help at all, it just made me glow and be able to control the sun like Escanor from The Seven Deadly Sins. Yes it was just as powerful as his, no I don't use it often, only when extremely necessary;
I needed the sun's light in order for it to work and I found using my dark and metal quirk to be easier to control than my sun power. When I got home, mom was there sitting on the couch with tears in her eyes.
Mom said she watched the whole thing and was proud at how strong I'd become, she also said Dabi watched and that he said I did good out there
for the rest of the remaining part of the day I spent it fawning over all the heroes there with mom. Kamui Woods being one of them, and I had managed to get an autograph from him as well! "Did you get Dabi's number?" Mom asked cheerfully. My face turns red in an instant
"Ye-Yeah I did." She turns to face me with a wide smirk "Oo~ someone's in love" I roll my eyes with a smile scooting closer to her on the couch; laying my head on her shoulder I listened to her heartbeat finding it comforting knowing she was alive and here beside me.
"I'm not in love mom, he's just a friend" She scoffs at my answer wrapping her arm around my shoulder "Uh huh, sure. I'm sure you two kissed a few times while I was gone" Mom laughed; Witch I thought before sitting up and stared mom in the eyes "Mom!" I shouted exadurating the 'o' with a large smile, my face painted red as I stared up at her.

The next morning I was awoken to a crash coming from downstairs. Immediately I stood from my bed and rushed out to see what the ruckus was about
when I reached the bottom floor the kitchen light was on and a shadow- two shadows were moving around almost in a panic.
"Mum?" I asked quietly, my voice hoarse from just waking up. There was no response but the shadows kept moving around; standing behind the wall near the kitchen I listened to the whispering "So how long will I have to be gone again?" Mom's voice echoed through the kitchen. A long sigh came after
"Alright, I'll figure something out to tell Liz. No, she doesn't know yet. Well- you try telling a fifteen year old girl what you do for a living!" Mom continued angrily whispering into what I guessed to be a phone. "Bye" Mom said with another sigh before something was placed onto the counter "So what's the plan boss?" A female voice came from the kitchen "We leave tonight, Edward wants this mission done by the end of the month. It'll take a while to get to the location and by the time we do we'll have a few days left to spare. I'm just worried about what Liz will do, she can handle herself but if someone finds out where we live they might come after her" Mom sighed, obvious regret in her voice before she continued
"Liz is a strong girl. But I feel like I should've left her with her father instead of taking her here." Mom finished speaking; the room was silent for a few minutes before that same unkown voice spoke up "Be glad you took her with. Otherwise they would've found a way to ransom you" As crazy as it may seem the voice was comforting and sounded Russian; mom's phone started ringing off the hook again before she answered "Is that him?" The voice asked quietly. Again the room fell silent
quickly but quietly I rush back to my room panicking a bit at the conversation I overheard.
What does mom mean by what she does for a living? Who's Edward, why the hell does she think I won't be safe? Ransom her? What the fuck is happening? Thoughts ran through my head while I tried piecing everything together;
I didn't have much to go on, nor did she tell me where she works. Taking a breath I reach for my phone that was still plugged in on my nightstand. Scrolling through my contacts I finally found the contact I was looking for and send a quick text

"Alright I'm heading out, see you in a month Liz" Mom called grabbing her purse and jacket leaving the house without another word. After waiting a few seconds I pull out my phone and call the group "What's the tea?" Kiana asked instantly joining the call right after Rachelle
"I overheard my mom talking about her job. She's leaving for a month to go some place and there was another woman here too, she said something about someone taking me to ransom mom? What do you guys think?" I asked quickly as silence came from the other end of the phone before Rachelle answered
"Maybe your mom works undercover?" "Or maybe she has this secret mafia life" Kiana added as I thought
"No, mom avoids conflict as much as possible- but that doesn't explain why that woman called her boss. What should I do? She's leaving for a month and I'm freaking out!" I paced sorting my thoughts, trying to get a firm hold on everything that's happened so far.
"See if she has anything in her room, maybe she'll have something laying around in there about her work" Kiana suggested as Rachelle spoke up "Or I don't know, maybe ask her when she gets back?" Each of us fell silent at her suggestion. It would definitely be the smartest and safest thing to do but what if she lies? There was no way of telling if she was or not.
"Girl. Take a breath, relax, and let it go your mom obviously doesn't want you knowing what she does because it could get you in trouble" Kiana said loudly; doing as she said I take a breath and calm myself down. "You're right. I should just let this go, if she wanted to tell me then she'd have told me ages ago, for now though. I'll fill you guys in on everything that's happened since coming here"

A few hours after I had gotten off the phone someone knocked at the door. My footsteps slowing as I reached the door, still paranoid about what that woman said about the ransom thing.
Standing outside the door was two tall men wearing matching black suites and sunglasses, one had light brown hair while the other had blue hair
"Sorry to bother you miss, my name is special agent Tod Haring and this is my partner Alan Smith. We're looking for a woman named Kathryn Global, moved to Japan a few months ago" Tod said pulling out his ID showing it to me then put it away "Well, you certainly are bothering me." My mouth spoke before my mind could; they didn't seem to care as they showed no emotion. "Do you happen to know a woman named-" I cut him off
"Kathryn Global. Heard you the first time genius, and yes I do, she's my mom" Their expressions changed to some form of surprise and realization before it changed back "Do you know where she is?" Alan who I nearly forgot about asked sitting up adjusting his coat slightly. "Nope, as far as I'm concerned she's at work" If they had some kind of lie detecting quirk they'd know if I was lying or not, and for the most part.
I had no reason to lie. "Do you know where she works?" He asked looking around the room as if expecting to see her come out of the corner
"No" With that I shut the door and walk away, only to be bothered by more knocking.
I groan and open the door again "What?" Staring up at them my eyes narrow and I get ready to use my quirk. "What time will she be home?" Tod asked pulling out a card from his suit pocket handing it over to me, looking down it was a business name and a phone number
"No idea when she'll be home, and as far as I care- which I don't I've got no clue what she does for a living nor do I want to know. Have a nice life, or not" Closing the door I heard one of them whisper about setting up something; I couldn't catch it all.
