Tony sighed, giving up. Sharon thankfully entered the room. "Aurora," She called. "Is it safe to take her back to the conference room?" She directed at Tony. He only nods. I stood automatically and rushed to follow Sharon out.
"Was everyone looking?" I asked her, noticing some not-so-subtle glances from a few workers. The glass walls of the room I was in with Tony revealed everything. She shrugged lightly. "Kind of hard not to."
Oh, great then. Sharon took me to the conference room the boys were in. Full lockdown looks like. "Hey," Steve said as he strides over to me and takes my arm softly. "You, okay?"
So, everyone did watch. I nodded, "Peachy."
The two of us go to watch on the TV in the corner, security footage of Bucky and the evaluation that was about to start. Unfortunately, we couldn't hear anything. I rub Steve's arm sympathetically It was hard to watch the footage. Bucky looked so sad.
"The receipt for your gear." Sharon told Sam, giving him a piece of paper that he took.
"Bird costume'?" He said offended. "Come on."
Sharon held up her hands defensively as she handed me one. "I didn't write it." Sharon pushes a button which stops the restriction on the audio from Bucky's evaluation.
Steve nodded thankfully at her and turned back to the screen.
Sharon looked at me and handed my ring over in a small plastic bag with a note on it. "For you." I quickly opened the bag and took my ring out, placing it on my index finger. I exhaled, feeling it hum and the jewel shine. God I missed it.
I turned over the note and it read "From royalty to royalty. This isn't an apology."
So, this isn't from Natasha. I smiled softly at the note, folding it and putting it in my jacket pocket. I put my ring inside as well. I honestly think if they see me with it, they'll take it away again. Steve studies the blurry photograph of the man who bombed the congress in Vienna.
"Why would the Task Force release this photo to begin with?" Steve questions all of us.
Sharon shrugged. "Get the word out, involve as many eyes as we can?"
Steve nodded. "Right. It's a good way to flush a guy out of hiding. Set off a bomb, get your picture taken. Get seven billion people looking for the Winter Soldier."
I raised an eyebrow. "You're saying someone framed him to find him?"
Sam looked up at that, he didn't look convinced. "Steve, we looked for the guy for two years and found nothing." Absolutely nothing. He was trained well. And that's what I mean. He would never be careless.
