Born and raised in Charlottetown, Flora Thompson was not initially impressed by Avonlea. Her father always spoke so highly of it to Flora and the boys, but growing up in the city made her biased. Sure, the small town was beautiful, but Flora claimed that its scenery was the only thing she could appreciate.
In truth, she just missed home. That's where her mother was. She would always think about that.
She was seven when they left their home for a new one. She was eleven when she declared him her enemy. And Flora had just turned thirteen when Anne came into her life.
