My eyes widened in horror and my heart dropped to the pits of my stomach as I watched Funneh plummet over the edge. "No...Funneh! FUNNEH!" I screamed, rushing over. I saw the tips of her blue hair vanish from the cliff. Gone. I looked over the edge, praying that there would be something, anything, to save her. I saw a cloud of dust at the bottom poof into the air. No...no! This isn't happening to me...it isn't...NO IT WAS. My knees buckled and I dropped down, breaking into sobs.
I remembered her last words before she shoved me away. Get Draco back. I got up and turned the face Draco, ready to unleash my pain, sorrow and anger to him.
But he was gone.
He had vanished into thin air. There was no one, except the small patrol of guards, Rainbow, Lunar and me. Again, the tears ran down my cheeks and I cried out loud, my cries echoing into the night sky. I probably looked strange, and I guarantee that my makeup was running down my face.
Not that I cared anyways. I would give up all my finery and makeup if it meant to save Funneh. But, she was gone. She actually was gone. It wasn't like the times she ran away from home, I mean, she's really gone. Gone from earth.
The world spun around in circles as the thought sank in. My stomach heaved and my chest throbbed as my heart rate pulsed crazily. Rainbow and Lunar rushed to me and hugged me quickly, whispering comforts to me. But really, it didn't help at all.
I spotted Funneh's sword at the side and I grabbed it, holding on to the only thing that remained of my sister. Rainbow and Lunar clung to it also, and the 3 of us sobbed together in a tight embrace.
From the corners of my eye, I could see the guards removing their helmets to pay their respects and...Alec standing alone at the side, tears running down his face. I bit my lip in with sympathy, Alec was the closest to Funneh after all. Her loss definitely impacted him a lot.
Kyran walked over to us and declared that we should be heading back to krewdom. Rainbow and Lunar got up, but I stayed. I never wanted to leave. Kyran, Lunar, Rainbow and the rest tried to convince me to go, but their words of comfort and their pleads were nothing to me. They didn't carry the guilt of smacking Funneh in the face or reprimanding her. I could still hear the sound of myself hitting her in the face in my ears. Eventually, they gave up and left.
I stayed on the ground for hours, maybe days. The rumbling in my stomach faded long ago and my throat was parched from screaming and crying. I really prayed hard that Funneh would still be alive, roaming the valley grounds, but every time I looked over the cliff, comfort would desert me and more wrath and sadness will rise.
Kyran and Alec came back to the peak a while later. Kyran had sorrow in his eyes, but Alec's eyes showed rage, anger, sympathy and remorse, all clumped together. "Gold, lets go back," said Kyran. I nodded weakly and tried to stand, but my legs refused to work, and I made only 3 steps before I crashed to the ground like a newborn fawn.
Kyran helped me and heaved me over his shoulder as he slowly made his way back to krewdom. Alec lagged behind, but I caught a glimpse of tears falling down his cheeks. I really was sorry, I really was. But I was too tired to bother.
I gave in to my exhaustion and let the sleepy darkness carry me away.
