"Nee-chan, I think you should stay away from Laxus starting now."
Lisanna says with a frustrated sigh, "Yeah, Mira-nee. Just because you're friends doesn't mean you can trust him completely."
"What are you saying, you two?" I ask them, patting their shoulders. "Laxus is a friend of ours. Just because we're, um, former lovers doesn't mean he can't be trusted. And, I know he's changing. Please, don't be a little judgmental."
"Mira-nee, we're just concerned for you. It's just, well, it seems a little weird for you to hang out with your ex. After all! you've never really done that with any of your exes," Lisanna says.
"It's fine," I assure them, my patience slightly wearing thin. "It will be all right, okay? It's just one day with Laxus, Freed, Bickslow, and Evergreen."
Laxus has declared yesterday that we shall have a Strauss-Raijinshuu Day. So, Lisanna and Elfman are forced to come. I don't mind, though. We're just going to have a picnic in the wilderness and maybe do a monster-slaying mission afterwards. I don't know why Lisanna and Elfman are agitated by Laxus's presence. He told me himself that we'd be all right just friends. These two siblings of mine think otherwise.
"Don't act as if he's going to kill me," I say to them, patting their backs. "We're going to a picnic. The only thing he will be killing is a monster."
"Oh, really, Mira-nee? Are you sure about that?" Lisanna asks as she puts the sandwiches in the basket. "Many things can happen in one day. In one picnic. In one hour. In one minute. In one second."
"True that, Nee-chan," Elfman says before high-fiving Lisanna. "Your survival might not be assured."
I give them a smile. Elfman and Lisanna are just worried, I tell myself. There's nothing to be afraid of. After all, you can always transform into a demon or even a gigantic whale when something goes wrong. After all, you've won the Demon Contest. After all, you've always been safe and fine with Laxus.
After all, he's the one who broke your heart.
Geez, what am I thinking? As I take the drinks out of the refrigerator, I hear someone ring the doorbell. Elfman goes to get it, and he is greeted by Freed.
"Kon'nichiwa, Elfman. I shall be escorting you to our picnic place with your two lovely sisters, yes?" he asks. Elfman scowls in dissatisfaction.
He rolls his eyes. "Nee-chan, they're here." He groans loudly before taking his backpack. "Just remember, Freed, I have a backpack and I know how to use it."
"Sorry about that, Freed," Lisanna says, smiling a bit. "Say, where's Bickslow? Is he already at our picnic place?"
"Yes, Lisanna," Freed replies with a small smile. "In fact, Bickslow is waiting for you in a rather... excited manner. When I left, he was jumping happily as if he won the lottery."
