Maya's Point of View
„When I'm away from you, I'm happier than ever..." I sang to myself looking into space. My maid braided my hair into a tight braid. "Wish I could explain it better, I wish it wasn't true..." I kept singing.
I tried to ignore the pain from the braid and not only that, but I sat on my knees in front of the large mirror, wearing my pink night gown. "Give me a day or two-"
"Mi hijo can you stop singing that agresivo song! It's not good for you!" I looked up at Luciana, seeing her giving me a stern glare. "I'm sorry Luci." I softly spoke to her.
"Get ready to sleep now, princesa. Tomorrow is a big day for you." She patted my head and put the brush away. I slowly stood up and walked to my queen-sized bed. "Good night princesa..." Luciana spoke, switching the lights off, leaving me in completely darkness.
I turned around, looking out of the big window. The moon shone through the window right into my room, giving me a little light.
Tears gathered in my eyes.
I sighed before closing my eyes, letting the tears flow down my cheeks.
"Good night, Luci."
I winced as Luci tightened the straps in my dress, almost leaving me without air. I softly cried out as I could barely breathe. "Luci please stop it hurts." I whispered.
"I'm sorry, hijo. This is your mother's order. I can't disrespect your mother." She replied, rubbing my back. I only nodded my head.
"Okay, you are ready to go. Let's take a look." I turned around and showed her my appearance. My hair fell gently down my back and my slightly pale skin accentuated the pink satin dress. My blue eyes sparkled and, despite their brightness, there was no life in them.
"You look a real-life princess, my princesa." Luci gushed as she clapped her hands. I only smiled. The smile not reaching my eyes. Luci took my hand in hers, dragging me out of my room. "We have to go now, your parents are waiting for you."
We walked down the long staircase, I already heard my parents in the hallway. I bit my lip as I looked down, wishing to disappear forever.
"Ah! There is my little sunshine!" I heard my dad excitedly say. I looked up and saw both my parents standing in front of me. "You look so beautiful, my daughter! He will definitely fall in love with you." My mother, the reason for all of this, smiled at me. I only nodded my head.
"Alright, I think we need to leave now. They are waiting for us." My mother announced. My father opened the door and let me and my mother leave first. "Luciana, please make sure the doors are locked when we come back."
"I will sir." Luci said as she waved at us. I sat in the car and looked at her, almost begging her to take me back home. Before we drove off, I saw Luci mouthing something to me.
It's going to be okay, princessa.
The drive to the meeting was fast and quiet. I didn't say anything the whole ride. I looked outside as we were going forwards. All around, through these tinted windows, were fields. The driver fiddled with the radio to fill our ears with the latest popular tunes, starlets, the new pop "idols".
As I closed my eyes, I could feel the gentle rise and fall of the road beneath me. The ride, the car, the meeting – they have found a use for me, and somewhere at the end of this road is the answer to what that could be.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when the car stopped. I looked out the window and saw the big mansion. A heavy sadness filled my soul.
"Maya?" My father called for me. My gaze turned to him. He held out his hand to me. I took it and let him take me out of the car. I straightened my dress and followed my parents. The heavy sadness spread all over my body. My heart pounded. I was afraid my parents could hear.
They knocked on the door and waited for someone to open it. I stood right behind them, playing with my dress.
I wish the ground could swallow me.
We heard footsteps coming our way. My ears perked up when the door opened. "Mr. and Mrs. Sloan, welcome!" I couldn't see the person because my parents blocked my view, but the voice, it was deep and stern. It held a firmness with it.
"Mr. Kim, it's a pleasure to meet you!" My father greeted 'Mr. Kim' back. "Come inside, we were waiting for you." He held the door open for us to get in, and that's when I could see his face. The man looked like in his late 40s. His hair was pushed back, and his Asian attire made his appearance more dominant than it already is.
"Hello Maya, it's nice to meet you. Your parents told me a lot about you..." Can't say the same. "...I'm Mr. Kim, your soon-to-be father-in-law." My soon-to-be father-in-law said as he looked down at me. I wish someone would tell me it's going to be okay.
"And this..." He pointed to the living room where a woman also in her late 40s sat on the couch with a younger man. "... is Kim Taehyung your fiancée."
Finally, the first chapter is out! It's a little short one but see it as a little introduction :)
I'm very excited about this one. It was random, but also needed. I got a sudden motivation to write a book :)
Hope this one stays longer with us.
I hope you guys loved it ❤️
