The silence of the ride home

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile- and yes the picture above is of Kate and Jayden- if u were wondering-

(Y/n's POV)

We were finally going home. This road trip turned into something we never expected, and that's a bad thing. We should have had more time enjoying each others presence, not worrying for one another's lives. I saw my phone light up from a notification. It was a text from Kate. Though she was right behind me...so why would she text me? I opened it and saw three words that hit me hard. 

<ChaoticKate>                                                                                                                                                                          Are you okay?

Am I okay...? I don't know how to answer this. Honestly, is she okay? She was the one in the hospital bed, not me.

 <SavageY/N>                                                                                                                                                                        Yeah, How about you? 

I silently waited for a response. Tetsu was asleep next to me, Jake was driving, Jayden seemed to be asleep next to Kate, and Kate was texting me. So it was very quiet.

<ChaoticKate>                                                                                                                                                            Eh..Kinda, It's hard not to think about though.   

She's right. It is hard to ignore the fact that even us, practical superheros, can't even protect ourselves.

We both chuckled a little from my response.

I turn around to see Kate playing with Jayden's hair as he slept. I smiled. 

Around an hour later...

(Kate's POV)

Y/n had fell asleep, and Jake's not a very fun person to talk to- so I sat silently, playing with Storm (the polar bear plush from the amusement park). Jayden, my boyfriend, was sleeping with his head on my shoulder. Cute. 

Around 10 minutes later...

"We're here!!!" Jake yells from the front seat. We're home.. finally. We planned a week long trip, it lasted a little longer. I smile and laugh as Y/n, Tetsu, and Jayden awoke surprised. "Hey Sleepyhead!" I say as Jayden realizes his head was on my shoulder. He rolls his eyes and responds saying "Hello beautiful." and kisses me....He kissed me. I may or may not had panicked from the surprise-... okay yes, I panicked. I couldn't stop my face from turning red. "That was hot-" I say without thinking. I look over and see all of the others staring at us annoyed. I nervously laughed as we all got out of the car.
