Another body lay dead on the ground in front of her. Ezra stared at the body being dragged away by Jax and Xander. One more person to add to her list of victims.
She didn't say anything to the men as she walked over to the car waiting for her. It was only a few moments until Ryder entered the car.
"Nice work today," He complimented as he drove away. "I almost thought you weren't going to get him."
"Never doubt my abilities," Ezra said while staring out of the window.
"I won't ever again," Ryder said, his hand slowly moving towards Ezra.
The girl didn't notice until his hand was resting on her knee. Quickly, she pushed his hand away. Moving her legs, she faces the door.
"What's got you in a bad mood?" Ryder asked.
"I just don't like you near me," The girl spat.
"Is this about the other day?"
"No," Ezra sighed, staring out the window.
"Tell me what's wrong."
"Since when do you care about how I'm feeling?" Ezra scoffed.
"I have to make sure you're alright so you can still do your job," Ryder quickly explained.
"I'm fine." Ezra said firmly, ending the conversation.
The rest of the drive back was quiet. Right as the car pulled into the garage, Ezra jumped out. The girl hurried to her room, changing out of her dress into a large tshirt and shorts.
Even though it was way passed midnight, Ezra didn't feel tired. She needed something to get her mind off her life, so she left her room. Walking through the dark house, Ezra found her way to the kitchen.
Going through the pantry, Ezra pulled out different ingredients. She grabbed flour, eggs, and other baking ingredients. One ingredient being Vodka. Guessing on the measurements, Ezra began mixing everything into a bowl. As she mixed, she took a few sips of the vodka.
Humming along to a song, Ezra put the batter into a pan. While it baked in the over, she sat at the counter mixing together a frosting. Eventually, the cake was cooked and she began frosting it.
All the while, Ezra forgot about where she was and what she was doing with her life. She was in a small bakery in Paris. Drinking more vodka, Ezra felt the warm feeling she loved that came along with alcohol.
Standing at the counter, Ezra began frosting the cake. She stopped her humming to take a drink of the alcohol before continuing frosting her cake. A hand on her waist made her jump, nearly dropping the knife she was using to frost.
"What are you doing up?" Ryder asked, keeping his hand on the girls waist.
"I wasn't tired," Ezra said, pushing his hand off of her.
Ryder chuckled, placing his hand back where it was. Ezra tried to ignore his hand and his stare as she continued frosting the desert.
"What are you making?" He asked.
"What does it look like?" She rolled her eyes.
Ryder squeezed her side, a warning to not be rude. Ezra sighed as she took another swig of the vodka. The man's eyebrows raised, surprised by the drink.
"How much have you drank?" He questioned.
"Enough to make me forget for a moment that I was here," Ezra smiled as she grabbed the cake, moving it to a different area on the counter.
